You're right, but not for the reasons you stated.

Obama wasn't that great of a President, and he would've easily lost this election.

If the GOP hadn't thrown it all away and put out some of the most laughable candidates I've seen since.. Well, John Kerry or Bob Dole.

Excuse me, but the most laughable candidate ever was bush jr, and look what he did to our country, the only reason the gop has half of the electorate is because it has been the mision of the gop to accomodate groups like the evangelists, who will follow and will give their 10% to any idiot that make 'em feel good, also the red necks, the skin heads etc. the democratic party is the party of intellectuals, and we only elect intelligent people....

I agree with you.

I voted for Obama in 2008. I have been disappointed in a few things, namely the NDAA. I also happen to like Ron Paul, but unfortunately realize there is no way he will get the nomination.

IMO there is no way the American people will risk Newt, Mitt or Rick.... none of those bafoons are electable. None.

Obama has shown he can indeed lead during very troubled times. He will win again, and I suppose I can be okay with that.... I mean compared to the alternative, I'm very okay with it.

There doesn't have to be a strong recovery. If America see things improving, which they are (no one can deny this), people will believe the country is moving in the right direction and they will re-elect Obama

They key is making sure democrats take back the house. That may be easy. Have you seen the congressional polls lately?

He captured Bin Laden but we are still in as much economic despair as we have ever been. I don't care how great liberals say this economy is, when I'm paying $4 for gas, my career is destroyed, and can't find a job, we are still very much in bad economic times. Real unemployment is 16%. This is a full bonafied depression and there is little hope for recovery in the near future.

I guess you and A-Lexas have been spending time together again. As usual you are living in a total dream world. Who will win? That is anyone's guess right now, but it isn't a lock for your wonderful hero...Only someone who sees only one side would think that..

Am I the only one that wonders why the unemployment rate is suddenly dropping weekly and so many things seem to be looking better. Now, he (the Pres) will do all he can to bring about some form of amnesty to the illegals for starters and who know what else he will do in the next few months? Gee he even has a balanced budget plan, yes, a joke but he has one.

We have 1.6M more unemployed now than when Obama took the oath of office, and massive increase in the number dependant upon government for their survival.

bachman, cain, palin and rick morons on an entirely different level

I'm also old enough to remember when the Democratic party was in as much deep disarray as the Repubs are now, and I know how much the Dems changed over a long period of time to become once again re-united. It took some severe challenging inside the party to accomplish it, and those changes only came about when the Democrats were sick and tired of getting butt kickings.

Now if they would just "get a pair" and at least stick together on something meaningful

The seeds of the divides in the Republican party were planted long ago, and were left un-addressed until they grew into real toxicity. All those problems were there in 2008, and they're worse now, but the party is not yet ready to be half unhappy. Until half of them are willing to give up some of their dearest beliefs to favor political practicality, the divisions will remain. Nobody will walk away fully happy if the party ever reconciles, but that's what needs to happen.

They created the teabaggers and now they are their worst enemies

It's better to be slightly miserable than it is to be completely miserable. If the bitter rivalry between Clinton and Obama had not been healed at the convention, with Hillary fully throwing her support behind Obama, the results of the election could have been different. Obama needed the full support of his party to win over all the voters he got, but he made many mistakes along the way.

So did McCain. The only big difference was in the mistakes. McCain made some real big ones, and they got ahead of him, while Obama never made one that was big enough to sink him late in the game.

His own party sunk him with that anchor Palin

I doubt Obama will make similar mistakes this time. That is one thing that he's very good at- not repeating mistakes. Whether or not the voters will re-elect him is not a given in my mind, even though I believe he will win, and I am very sure Obama is not taking anything for granted.

I think we will have a very clear choice presented to us this time, just as there was in 2008. How we choose will be up to us; if most of us believe we're in the dawn of a brighter day, Obama will get his second term. If most of us believe we are ultimately doomed, and are fearful of the years ahead, Obama may lose.

Either way, I doubt very seriously that the Repubs will make the same mistakes McCain did. Looking back to 2008 as a predictor of what will happen 4 years later isn't going to offer any real clues, as 2008 was the most distinctive race in modern history.

Seeing an African-American, two women, a Mormon, and one of the oldest candidates to ever run for the top positions in our government is a thing that won't be repeated for a long time to come. 2008 set the ground rules for the 21st Century, and such a thing only happens once in 100 years.
The way that he has been racially attacked I don't think that another black would be running for some time, at least one who would considered to be non-threatening
