While it is conventional wisdom to state that Obama faces an uphill re-election battle against Romney and to be pessimistic in the Nate Silver sense about his chances, I believe there are number of reasons why Romney will prove to be a weak general election candidate and will never be President. It is Romney who has the daunting task.
Daily Kos: Why Romney Won't Be President

He'll probably try again in 2016. He's obsessed with adding ar trophy to his shelf. He already has one as The King of Flip Flops...he should quit while he's ahead.

There aren't a number of reasons. There's 1. He's not an evangelical Christian. They don't really like mormons and they won't wholeheartedly support him. That's the only reason why he didnt run against Obama ~4 years ago and the only reason why this race is still wide open.

It's a good list. Some, like national security, Social Security/Medicare, and the Hispanic vote, would apply to any Republican running against President Obama. Others, like the Affordable Care Act and being wealthier than God, apply more specifically to Romney.

I think that Romney is the inevitable Republican candidate, and that's just fine with me.

Question Why Romney Won't Be President

hmmm...

A tough one.

Maybe because he can't even get the votes of half the Republicans?

He is ambitious for power and will do anything to get it. And he does, for it is he who emerges triumphant from the smoke-filled room as the nominee of the party bosses. He stands straight and tall, like a knight in shining armor. He is a born leader who inspires trust and confidence. He looks you, man to man, in the eye. He canvasses his constituency; he takes part in caucuses; he is the guest of honor at the party-sponsored Bar-B-Q. He travels around giving stump speeches, shaking hands and kissing babies. He is for motherhood, the flag and apple pie. He smiles and waives at his adoring public from the speaker’s platform. He is everyone’s hometown boy and his state’s favorite son - a true all-American. He's the one.

Romney is a centrist Republican and a Mormon. The extreme right wing neocons and the Evangelical Christians cannot stand him. Hopefully the former will campaign against him and the latter will stay home in November.

Besides, Romney is one of the biggest “Greedy Bastards” of modern times that used every dirty means possible to ruin most of the companies he dealt with. Romney is not a solution to our economic problems. He and his ilk are the problem. Most of us realize this and will vote against him.

I think it is stupid that he will not get the votes, because of his religion, ignorant in fact, the same way that people voted for Obama based only on the color of his skin, even more stupid reason for voting then not voting.
What about the Christian Hypocrites out there, you know who you are and there are many.
Relligion and politics should be seperate. As long as we have someone capable, trust worthy, strong, can lead this nation, good business sense, can get an economy booming. And care about this Country truly. And a decent caring individual.

I am friends with some mormons, and at least they are not hypicriticial as Chrisitians i know, and that is truth. Not all, but so many, and so dang judgemental.

I believe Republicans have made it quite clear. That they don't honestly want him. If they held their nose, and voted for Bush Jr. They are going to wear Gas Mask. To vote for Romney.

I see low voter turn out or some Republicans even voting for Obama. Just so Romney doesn't win.

It's easy to Demonize liberal policies with a Democrat in office. If a Republican is pushing the same policies. Then that is harder to explain or defend.
