FOX is not part of the MSM. The only reason FOX news came into existence is BECAUSE the MSM is so obviously in the tank for Democrats.

So it's the most popular, but not in the mainstream? How exactly does that work?

The "MSM" is corporate and all about profit. If Rupert Murdoch saw profit in a liberal news channel, FOX News would have gone that route and Roger Allies would be president of a third rate and conservative MSNBC.

Sorry. You guys can't go on about how FNC is the highest rated news network for the past 10 years without conceding that they form a huge part of the MSM. Doesn't work that way.

Both Fox News and MSNBC, otherwise known as the Mainstream Media, love that you feel this way. It helps ratings for both channels significantly, especially during election season.

The Fourth Estate is dead. Thank God for talk radio, the internet, and FOX news.

Do you think anyone who makes a living in media cares about what political views they espouse? It's all about the money! Rupert Murdock is just a smart businessman. He saw an underserved market and went for it. If the situation would have been reversed, i.e. MSNBC was conservative, you'd be complaining right now about FOX NEWS being ultra liberal.

Neither Rupert Murdock, nor whomever owns MSNBC, care about politics one way or the other. But, there is big money in political news and drama. MSNBC would cancel Maddow, and Fox News would cancel Hannity, in a heartbeat to show reruns of Lassie in if they thought it would increase ratings.

Yeah, just ask those folks who employ Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee...

They'll tell ya.

This is probably the funniest thing I've read on C-D all day (and that is no mean feat, considering I've been arguing with birthers all morning.) You clearly missed your calling--you should be doing stand-up comedy.

I would say it *is* about money, certainly ratings play in. Don't forget govt shares thru investment funds in the mix. I would have to say both MSNBC and FOX are MCM. For anybody interested in ownership.
