SCOTUS was expected to render a dramatic verdict on the constitutionality of the "personal mandate" aspect of Obamacare this summer, just in time to potentially impact the election.

But it looks like there is a strong possibility Chief Justice Roberts will opt to kick the can down the road till 2014, for technical reasons.

Call me suspicious, but I wonder if that signals that Roberts expects a WIN for Obama's plan, and that is why he's okay with hearing the case AFTER the election?

One of those things that makes me go "Hmmmmm..."

The Roberts court has been ever so activist, including attempts to overturn settled law. That the Chief Justice would not want the Court to hand the President a victory on the healthcare plan adopted by Congress (it wasn't the "President's Plan") is understandable given that one-sided activism by the majority.

Yeah, this is significant. Isn't that when it kicks in? I have no doubt election year issues are being looked at on these matters. Tons of money in this Obama care bill.
