Jeb Bush calls GOP rhetoric "troubling" - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Bush, the son and brother of former presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush respectively, said he found the GOP debates "a little troubling" because the candidates are appealing to voters' emotions rather than more overarching political concerns.

Thus confirming:

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult | Truthout

Among the GOP base, there is constant harping about somebody else, some "other," who is deliberately, assiduously and with malice aforethought subverting the Good, the True and the Beautiful: Subversives. Commies. Socialists. *******s. Secular humanists. Blacks. ****. Feminazis. The list may change with the political needs of the moment, but they always seem to need a scapegoat to hate and fear.

Surely the Dem's do this as well. I haven't found an example yet.

I agree. So far the campaign has been one of intolerance, fear and spiritual superiority. Only Ron Paul has been able to keep away from it, and concentrate on real issues and solutions instead.

Gee when Jeb is calling it 'troubling', things are getting REALLY bad. I don't know how appealing to a small (and getting smaller) minority of people will garner more votes? They are dividing Americans into factions when we should be trying to unite and pull through this whole spectacle.

The RINOs are nervous. There is a reason they are headed for extinction with real Conservatives.

I'm not sure what's more troubling: GOP rhetoric or liberals siding with a Bush to make a point.

The GOP is desperately looking for someone who will unite their party. Unfortunately it's not happening anytime soon, judging from the choices they have.

Of course. It's no wonder he didn't want to run. He strikes me as a principled Conservative, not someone concerned w/ one-upsmanship or fear/hate mongering. In other words, he'd get slaughtered by the whackos that now make up the base for Republicans.

I love Jeb Bush--he's a common sense leader, and he should have been the president last time around vs. Dubya. I'm hoping he runs in 2016. If that's what he's said publicly, I imagine the private conversation was along the lines of "these people are freaking nuts and they're destroying the party." It's time to clean house in the R ranks. I knew when some in the party pushed the tea party into power that they wouldn't stick to the economy and they'd go off on a wacky social conservative rant. The average republican is NOT on that page. It's time for them to go.

Jeb Bush seems to done pretty good for FL, but after the last 2 Bush he wouldn't have a chance. He would of beat Santorum an Mitten.

Obama is busy putting Americans back to work and the GOP is debating birth control. I think I'll stick with the people who are actually grounded in reality, the DFL.
