They're only human. The speakers should take it as a sign that they're extremely boring.

I used to fall asleep during chapel when I went to private school. They threatened me with detention, and the sucky thing was that my teacher's assigned place in the auditorium was right at the front. Not my fault that it was boring.

Over the course of a few minutes, Gingrich nodded in and out a few times, at one point awaking to say, “Listening to Panetta is not a relaxing experience.” Judging by ABC’s footage, it isn’t quite clear if Gingrich was discussing US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta with someone else in the studio before he started sleeping, or if the speaker had simply daydreamed about an intense diatribe from the Pentagon’s top gun."

Newt Gingrich dozes off during AIPAC address — RT

Newt, we all take naps when you speak, glad you decided to join us.
geze, is this the first time a politician has dozed during a speech, especially when one considers the drain a campaign can have on the candidates as well as their campaign staff? I think I have seen a few people doze in church during a sermon, just about the same wouldn't you say? OH, I forgot, you don't attend chuch...sorry about that!!
