Suppression IS their message. It rings well with their base. The question is, is their base big enough to elect them to Congress in greater numbers? Suppressing helps them be able to do that.

I think it is very telling that romney has not mentioned his fathers work on civil rights? Why is that? I have a theory but Ill wait for others to answer.

Because Democrats would scream that it wasn't him and call it pandering. Then they would wait for a reporter to ask him if he had any NASCAR connections so that they can scream he is out of touch when he tells the truth, knowing that if he lied they would cry about that too, class warfare is the issue of the day.

You really should get out more in 2010 there were 32 black republicans who ran for US Congress.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/05/us.../05blacks.html

We had a black man who was for several weeks the front runner and clear Tea Party favorite in the race for the GOP nomination. And we have Allen West, also a tea party favorite who has been very often mentioned as a potential GOP presidential candidate. And actually it was Republican GW Bush who put the first black person into the line of prez succession (Colin Powell) and the 2nd (Condi Rice).

OTOH never mind, keep your head in the sand, and stick to the shopworn 'call them racist' strategy. In the long run, eventually, it is going to mean a huge loss of votes for Dems. These things take time. The Mongomery bus boycott took place in 1955. It was another 10 years till the voter's rights act passed. Forty-five years till Powell became SOS. Fifty-three years till Obama became prez.

Thats not why. He knows that it will lose him a lot votes from the right especially from the tea party.

Why do you say the repubs are suppressing?

You don't know why, you made it up in order to fit a twisted agenda. Why believe you on the reasons why Romney will or won't do something. I'm more likely to believe what Romney says than you. Okay maybe not Romney . I hate to defend that weasel.
You're the enemy, of course you're going to say something that fits your agenda.
The current Tea Party doesn't believe in the Constitution and what we were founded on except when they think it is to their advantage. I seriously doubt they disagree with the CRA that, while well intentioned, stole property rights of the individual. Title two did that.

It is just another variation on 'call them racist.' When the Rev. Wright story first came out in 2008, a group of lefty journalists were brainstorming on how to counter the problem of Rev. Wright. One of them, Spencer Ackerman, suggested that they should pick out some random conservatives and "call them racist." This is just the latest version of that tactic.
