Well, I have another thought about why these high dollar donors are not opening their wallets.

Maybe they are tired of being demonized and targeted by obama, the demagogue?

Obama’s high-dollar donations lagging - The Washington Post

Quote:
President Obama is struggling to draw in big-dollar donations, with half as many people writing large checks to his campaign than at this point four years ago.
He lags behind Romeny, he lags behind his 2008 levels and he lags way behind Bush 2004 levels.

All good news of course.

Quote:
Republicans and Democrats alike thought Obama would have a big financial advantage over Republicans this fall given his record-breaking 2008 fundraising and his status as the sitting president. But the trend of slackening big-donor support is the latest in a series of indications that the 2012 money battle is going to be much tighter than once imagined.
Probably about even...or..if the wallets continue to stay closed.....total republican/conservative money will be on top.

Yeah....WAY below 2008 levels and 2004 levels. Oh, that figure is for BOTH obama's campaign and the DNC.

Look at the numbers instead of just relying on a "headline".

You do know that Obama still has more donations overall right?....

From your ariticle:

Quote:
Obama is outpacing his Republican rivals in fundraising overall
and this, for reasons why many aren't giving more than $2000 per donation:

Quote:
the extended Republican primary has shined a spotlight on a field of potential rivals that many Democrats believe Obama will easily beat.

More likely his supporters know there is no real competition coming out of the Republican camp, and therefore have no reason to open the purse-strings too widely this election season.

That article points to people saving their money because they don't believe the current field can beat Obama. Odds are at this time, that is the better bet. Things can change, but the question is will they? Only thing I've seen the GOP get traction on the last few months is energy policy.

Add to that, his Campaign has just started and the Obama/Bill Clinton money raising events haven't happened, ...., yet.

Does he really? How much more? Make sure you add up all the money raised by each of the GOP candidates.

His contributions are way down from 2008.

Making his campaign very nervous with this strategy from his supporters.

Good, we hope they keep that false sense of security. According to emails coming from the Obama campaign lately, they don't feel so sure about it.
