Mitt Romney has scored a resounding win in Puerto Rico's Republican primary, a usually overlooked contest that has given him momentum in the hotly contested White House race.

With a final tally in late Sunday, the former Massachusetts governor had more than 83.4 percent of the vote, according to the the State Elections Commission, or CEEPR, in the US territory.

His chief rival Rick Santorum stood a distant second with 7.7 percent. Former House speaker Newt Gingrich had two percent, just ahead of Representative Ron Paul's 1.1 percent.

Yet another huge win for the Republican nominee. It's long past time for Santorum and Gingrich to drop out of the race.

The RNC set up these contests on islands that have no vote in November, so that Romneybots like you would have something to crow about even if Romney got creamed in the south on Super Tuesday. Smart thinking, Rove!

I know you liberals believe all minorities think alike and that their votes don't matter, but please keep it off this thread.

This race is inconsequential for the reason that the previous poster said: they have no real voting power, so unless Romney locks up the nomination, there will be a brokered convention, and that changes the dynamics completely.

But I commend Romney for not being a complete idiot (not to mention a complete douche) and insisting that Puerto Ricans speak English on an island that does not have an English-speaking culture. Let that serve as a warning to republitards that they're getting dangerously close to alienating the entire Hispanic voting bloc with their attacks on the Hispanic communities.

Genius. Puerto Rico can't vote for president...so it don't matter.Neither can any of the other islands that voted in the primaries.

Well, don't tell us that Santorum and Gingrich have to drop out, tell them.

He's already half way there to 1100 or what ever the number is for the nomination.

He's not quite there, but if polls are right for IL, he could get a big boost tomorrow and make it to the halfway mark.

Trace is a Romney supporter. I think he was being sarcastic.
