Paul, on the other hand, would inspire the masses to get out and vote. And he would receive votes from all of the parties, including the GOP folks that can’t stand the so called front-runners, the dissatisfied with Obama Democrats, the libertarians, the independents and a good share of the Tea Party. Namely, all those who prefer freedom to tyranny.

Well he hasn't inspired any 'masses' from within these groups to vote for him in the primary season, despite the fact that many primaries are open and 'the disaffected' you mention werent inspired to go vote for him enmasse in those open primaries so why would a general election be any different?
Perhaps Paul would be the greatest president ever...but he hasn't been able to sell himself to 'the masses' so far,and I doubt he would get into double digits if he ran third party.......but its fine with me if he wants to try that road again.
A moderate who introduces enough new-sounding ideas to get people interested, but who does nothing drastically different from his predecessors. Romney and Obama fit that mold perfectly.
But that doesn't say anything about what would truly be best for the nation, that's just the psychology of politics. The American electorate in its entirety doesn't like extremists and doesn't like radically new ideas -- even when such ideas are just what the doctor ordered.

The latest PPP poll has Paul and Santorum closest to beating Obama. Both losing by 3 points.
