Rachael Maddow discussed this editorial. I am by no means a right winger but I have to say I think the editorial makes some good points.
What do you conservatives here think?

$22 trillion in debt when Obama is out seals the deal, therefore arguing about gay rights, immigration, abortion and other such silly things is irrelevant. Who cares about "joining" with the views of crazy liberals who just sealed the death of the US. In a new US, there will not be a social democracy and only property owners will be able to vote, thus eliminating the "treats for votes" system which is on course to destroy the US.
Secession will occur as a matter of course, as citizens of the old US (at least in the civilized regions) will not allow thier regions to descend into chaos just to remain a part of a bankrupt, dying nation. The obligations of the US are for the US. When an area is no longer a part of the US, that "obligation" is eliminated.

And it starts with the anonymous online petition heard round the world.

Did some of you even bother to read the links? He said the birthers, the wailing about nonexistent voter fraud, the petitions to secede, and the goofy "if only we knew" garbage, like who some General is sleeping with, are all making the R party look like a bunch of tinfoil hat nuts. I agree. If the R's want to win, they need to get rid of the crazy stuff and respond to the Democrats with tested, serious and well thought out proposals. They need to actually respect brown and gay people and women, and their proposals need to reflect that. It's not hard--just a big change for these "new R's."
Wow. They are even terribly rude to each other. Honestly, I think the Dems should just step back and let them fight each other. That party is more split than Democrats vs. Republicans.

You are quite the patriot, your guy loses an election and you throw in the towel and act like democracy failed you cause the country didn't elect your guy.
Your description of America sounds like the one that the far-right wants to move towards.

I'm also no rightwinger..Good article and shows a sane conservative attitude, moderate conservative viewpoints such as those in the article should replace the current foaming at the mouth ,knuckle dragging, hate, venom and vitriol that has taken over the party on the right.
