Nixon was the one that yelled out, that we officially a Keynesian society, after he dropped the Gold Standard. Inflation quickly got out of hand.
Why do you think there was an oil embargo? Currency devaluation and the oil sheiks were smarter than they thought. Your not ripping us off.

It is a debate where your perception on the winner depends on your economic philosophy. What I would really like to see is a structured debate between Krugman and either Sowell or Williams.

Uh, the war in 1973 between Israel and Egypt/Syria was the reason for the oil embargo. That's basic history.
