I love how nobody has been able to find one shred of evidence of Romney ever supporting gay marriage.

I have news for you guys - a change in rhetoric without any changes in concrete policy positions ain't exactly flip flopping. It's called knowing your audience, rule #1 of public speaking, communications 101.

How does Obama benefit from this announcement? Most of the pundits say that they it is uncertain. It's a gamble and by no means a certain benefit. it could easily cost him votes of the elderly heavy states like Penn & Fla.

Romney refuses to flip flop on gay issues? Clearly you never lived in Massachusetts. Romney said he would run to the left of Ted Kennedy on gay issues. Your whole thread is wrong, right from the beginning. Notice how he says, his position has been the same since he was running? That was very deliberate. Of course he and his Mormon church poured money into California for Prop 8, so really, you could say Romney was on both sides of the issue at the same time. Romney the contortionist.

Next week he will try to take credit for Obama supporting gay marriage.

He stands to benefit from campaign donations from the Liberal elite, Hollywood and mass media as they are very vocal/outspoken on the Gay rights issues.

I do agree that it will cost him votes from religous groups. Did Obama's position really " evolve" or is it just convenient for him and his Liberal backers right now ?

Kind of like the last election when he promised to take on comprehensive immigration reform in his first year in office.

I really don't care who marries who or what someone does in the privacy of their own homes.

This is just another instance ( among many) that Obama uses to appease certain groups to garner votes. Notice how he's already left an escape clause for himself stating that individual States can deal with this on a State level ?

I am not surprised he doesn't support gay marriage.

He doesn't even support sex before marriage. I mean what are the odds of that...

...But Romney is pandering to HIS base by opposing gay marriage. Him being in agreement with Obama that gays should be able to marry would be a very bold political stance in defiance of his base. Romney has never NOT pandered in his life. He was pro civil union and the architect of Romneycare in Massachusetts, now he's anti-gay and against the health care plan he invented. Two-Face from Batman is less of a flip flop than Romney.

There is lots of evidence of Mr. Romney spouting off against "big government" and "government intrusion" into people's lives.

He has now taken the position that the feds, via a Constitutional amendment, should decree the nature of marriage.

You don't find that a bit hypocritical?

What you just described is called a two-faced liar . . . or a politician. Romney is a political chameleon just like Obama, just like Bush, just like Clinton . . . . .
