Election 2012: North Carolina President - Rasmussen Reports™

Quote:
Mitt Romney has moved out to an eight-point lead over President Obama in North Carolina after the two men were virtually tied a month ago.
The democrats/obama MUST be kicking themselves for choosing NC for their convention site. I think the dems will seriously try to move the convention, especially after this poll which show Mitt pulling away.

I've said it all along, the chance of obama duplicating his win in NC in 2008 (14K votes) was unlikely to happen.

That's like saying "Luke Skywaker 10 points over Capt Kirk in Star Wars forum" Putting your friend in the friendliest position and your enemy at his worst is not new.

Well, that's new kind of spin for bad obama polling news.

I think you can take NC OUT of the toss up column.

You don't know how significant that really is until you realize NC is now full of northeast retirees that either came to NC directly or first went to Florida and then moved halfway back and old people vote.

I hope they dump Charlotte. That would be great fun and drama. CA is $16 bil in the hole, they could use the money.

I think even the Dems knew holding NC was a longshot for 2012. Obama won VERY tightly in 2008 (wasn't it like 50,000 votes?).

The more surprising polls might be from Virginia. That is a state that the Democrats are hoping to keep in the 'blue' column after a very long history of supporting the Republican candidate. The key there is turnout in the DC suburbs + the African American vote. If those two drop off, the state could be lost.

14,000.

Romney beats obama with the war on women vote in this poll 53%-41%, which is amazing.

Romney's "likeability" is up too 54%-43%. Obviously, obama/dems/Left will have a hard time trying to convince people Romney is evil and scary.

Oh, 2/3rds of BLACK voters approve of voter ID laws - and overall in the poll, 80% support ID checks at the polls.

Don't those black voters realize we just want to keep them from voting??

I don't know why the left is so confident about NC to begin with. There's no way Obama will outperform himself in 2008, and NC was so close to begin with. Even if we concede Rasmussen has a bias (which I'm not necessarily saying) this still points to a Romney advantage in the state.
