They do, sounds like this person is the typical right winger breaking the law dodging taxes.
Though claiming "self employed" is also fancy talk for "i live with my parents" "I'm unemployed and my spouse pays for everything" or "I live on welfare"

The state of Illinois used to have their own, then they joined SS a few years back. That's all I know of for sure. Why do you want a list? Do it yourself.

What do you want to do? Have people that lost their jobs because of a banker-government caused housing bubble that exploded starve in the streets? Funny that "all these people" want to "take advantage" yet everytime a company says they are hiring, we see lines that go for blocks and blocks. We had a new hotel open here a few years back and there were 7000 people lined up for a few hundred jobs.

Which should be eliminated. You force me into it, you be in it too.

What is the punishment for not paying into SS? When I turn 70 I won't be getting my money back, that they didn't take from me.

Paying the Treasury, is much different and separate than paying the SS commission.

Most employees are working for businesses that require startup capital. Even burger flippers - no way you can open a hamburger stand without a substantial cash outlay.

There was a brief time window for governments to opt out of Social Security. Galveston was the rare example of a city that opted out. Then the time window ran out and that option has been gone for decades.

You are entirely wrong that Galveston was the ONLY one. Just b/c your world view doesn't extend to the rest of the country, it doesn't mean no other government agencies ever had their own retirement systems. I know the state of Illinois did b/c my DH worked for them for 10 years. He contributed to some sort of Illinois retirement system. Then when he left their employ, he had to work for 10 years to be paid into SS.

ETA: I was just looking at my SS earnings statement, and for 3 years in the early 80s, I did not pay into SS b/c I worked for a public health dept. that paid into Colorado Public Employees retirement instead. You need to get out more.

I have been classified as Self Employed since I was 18. No one has mugged me for my money.

What about the city of Galveston Texas. They do not automatically deduct Social Security from their workforce's pay.

You better hope you paid into Social Security for the minumum required period to become vested in the system, otherwise you are going to be on your own when it comes time to be hanging up them spurs. No SS, no Medicare and if you need it no SSDI or SSI either. The great State of Texas is doing you no favors in this matter!

90 % of our socalled entitlements goes to three priveleged classes: senior citizens, involuntary unemployed and the sick. So who gets you the most agitated?. The seniors living in the Florida sun gliding around on their Hoverounds and pick up perscriptions for Viagra? or is it the the ex-worker sitting in a decaying house with a decaying car in a decaying neighborhood in a fading city or burb wondering how he is going to feed his wife and kids fix the car and keep the Bancsters at bay over the late mortgage payment on 300 dollars a month ( Unemployment is only $300 in the great Blue State of Maryland) ?, or is it the none to healthy 40 or 50 something with an IV drip in his arm and those oxygen drip tubes up the nose and maybe for good measure has a urinary catheter up the old kazoo? Inquiring minds are dying to know, buddy?
