President Bill Clinton veered sharply off message Thursday, telling CNN that Mitt Romney's business record at Bain Capital was "sterling."
"I don't think that we ought to get into the position where we say 'This is bad work. This is good work,'" Clinton said. "The man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold."
Clinton also went on to say that Romney's time at Bain Capital represented a "good business career."
The Obama campaign is in the third week of an all-out assault on Romney's time as a corporate buyout specialist — accusing the GOP nominee of bankrupting companies and laying off workers all while pocketing a profit for himself and investors.
But the negative tenor of their attacks on an influential segment of Wall Street have made some Democrats uncomfortable. Clinton is the highest profile Obama surrogate so far to show discomfort with the attacks on Bain, with the former president even praising the company and Romney's record. Newark mayor Cory Booker and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick also both declined to press the attack against Bain.

To say that Clinton 'veered off message' might be the understatement of the year...lol. He must not even want Obama re-elected.

Can we hire Bill to make a few more of these speeches to show how pathetic Obama's attacks on Bain Capital are....all while Obama gets money from Bain bundlers.

Omg, this is hilarious.

In one fell swoop, Bubba completely undermines obama's narrative about Romney.

When the Progressives threw all the New Democrats under the bus, they lost their last tether to any understanding of how the country works, business, and economics.

Thank goodness that President Clinton has the moxie to say what needs to be said. He is a statesman.

Obama is betting that 50.1% of the electorate is economically illiterate. Whether he is right or wrong is an open question. President Clinton and the others who have spoken against the ignorant attacks on Bain and Romney are doing this country a great service.

When people only read headlines and refuse to better inform themselves ... they appear to be idiots. I listened to the interview with Clinton and I think he gives gsood advice to the President on how to advance his questions, and provides support for what the President has been saying about Romney and Bain ... and corporate raiders.

So, you are saying that Politico lied about what Clinton said, I don't think anyone here said he did not give good advice to obama, however in the process he slammed obama.....

When people read/here only what they want, they make fools of themselves attempting to be better than others.
