Interesting: 3 out of 17 responders will switch this year so far...
Yes, it is pretty clear than Obama is losing a little his original allure. Not surprising given the horrible economy. But I have seen nothing on the GOP side that inspires a flicker of confidence for me. Quite the opposite. I can recall how we got in this mess, and it was not from Obama.
Tough call. I like Obama, but I have to say I may hate the GOP policies (and behavior) more than I like Obama. He has been good, they have been god awful. So, the net emotional energy is negative. Sad to say.
If there was a stronger real conservative values candidate (non exteme right winger), ill vote for that person anytime of the day, even over Obama, and please. No palin wannabies.

This is by no means a scientific poll, but it is interesting nonetheless. Now you're up to 4/21 people who, like me, switched from Obama to Romney. Still 0 folks who went from voting McCain to voting Obama.
If this is the general trend this year, it means that Obama isn't exactly winning over anyone who didn't like him four years ago, but many who got behind him four years ago are jumping ship. Could mean a close race. Could mean a blowout for Romney. But if Obama can't win back those losses, there is no way for him win an overwhelming victory. If Barack wins, it'll be a lot closer than it was in 2008.
I am a center-right voter. I call myself a Republican on this forum, but am really more of an independent (and we don't register with parties in TX, so I am not "officially" anything). I generally vote for Republicans, but do vote against Republicans when I feel it's necessary. I voted for Obama in 08 and don't like to admit that. I thought he would be a bad president, but I was voting against McCain/Palin (especially Palin) and not really for Obama. I never agreed with most of Obama's ideas and plans, especially his economic proposals, though I did hope he would live up to his promises of transparency and rising above the typical cronyism in Washington. I hoped he would at least try to be the "great uniter" he pledged to be. But of course he hasn't - if anything, the divisions have only become worse under Obama.
If McCain had not chosen Palin, I likely would have voted for him. Hell, if McCain had been even 5 years younger, I likely would have voted for him even with Palin on the ticket. But I could not bring myself to vote to put Sarah Palin one 72 year old heartbeat away from being the leader of the free world. That being said, I've always thought of McCain as a warmonger and McCain did not really have a good economic plan of his own, so I would have considered voting for Obama regardless - and was considering it even before he chose Palin. Still, Palin was the main reason I voted for Obama. I was kind of sick of Republicans in general in 2008, but I did vote Republican in the vast majority of down-ticket races.
This year - I will be voting for Romney....happily.
Even given how McCain calls for invading anyone who farts on the other side of the world, and the recent bills he's sponsored/written?
Voted for Obama in '08 because of:
Palin
McCain's age (sorta)
I question is mental competency
and he is no longer the "maverick" I would have voted for him over Bush. After he bowed to Bush, he went off the train tracks.
It was picking between two bad choices. But that doesn't seem like anything special anymore.
I'm an undecided, libertarian leaning free spirit. If Romney will carry the Texas vote with no problem then I'm voting for the Libertarian Gary Johnson.
However, also to consider is the states that have decided that ALL of their electoral votes will go to the candidate that wins the nationwide popular vote rather than their state vote. Should that be the case, then I would support voting for Romney, just to take those electorals away from Obama.
I have NO vote whatever, under any condition, at any time for Obama.
The economy did NOT tank because he took office. The economy tanked just as he took office.
I do not want Romney in the White House and I think his business background means nearly nothing. The US government is not a business. It's a socialist machine, and always has been. There will always have to be social programs and transfer payments.
The big problem is that Obama has been BLAMED for the problems he inherited.
He's been in the White House for 4 years and could have taken almost immediate action with the NCLB legislation. For his slowness there, and choosing Arne Duncan as Ed Secretary yeah he deserves some blame.
I think I am the most cynical this year about any presidential election I've ever voted in.
