The economy did NOT tank because he took office. The economy tanked just as he took office.
I do not want Romney in the White House and I think his business background means nearly nothing. The US government is not a business. It's a socialist machine, and always has been. There will always have to be social programs and transfer payments.
The big problem is that Obama has been BLAMED for the problems he inherited.
Obama inherited NOTHING. He BOUGHT the job, he got the job and he has FAILED the job.

When did Washington Mutual and General Motors collapse? He was barely in office. You can look up those dates for yourself. Those seeds were planted during the "easy money" Bush era.
You need to be more specific and look at mile markers, rather than talking about generalities.
I'm an undecided, libertarian leaning free spirit. If Romney will carry the Texas vote with no problem then I'm voting for the Libertarian Gary Johnson.
However, also to consider is the states that have decided that ALL of their electoral votes will go to the candidate that wins the nationwide popular vote rather than their state vote. Should that be the case, then I would support voting for Romney, just to take those electorals away from Obama.
I have NO vote whatever, under any condition, at any time for Obama.
I am the opposite of this since I would vote for Obama if Texas were a contested state. Since it's beet red and Obama has no chance, I'll cast my vote for Gary Johnson this time around.
I'd give Romney more of a hearing than I did the superannuated warmonger and the creationist housewife in 2008. I don't think he's loony, just robotic and insincere. But the fact is that he's likely to be followed to Washington by a hard core of GOP crazies and I can't imagine voting for that.
That is one of my main concerns about Romney. I still remember about how much influence Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, etc. had with Bush. I would be much more comfortable with Romney if I thought he could resist the yelpers at the right fringe if he was to win and truly work at governing somewhere in the vicinity of the center and actually get something done about the economy and the budget deficit. My vote this year is still up in the air.
In 2008 I was set to vote for McCain as I really didn't want complete Democratic control. Not thrilled with it, but felt I could live with him. Then the Palin pick blew that up for me. Still can't really figure out that move. So my vote became an " Ahhh, what the heck" Obama vote. Been a while since I have had any degree of enthusiasm about a Presidential vote. Sure would like to have that feeling again.
I'm a registered unenrolled, aka independent, although the past few years I have been voting repub.
Yes, I miss that feeling of being gung-ho for a candidate.

Obama will be getting my vote. He hasn't been particularly good (mostly because he constantly pre-compromises away any meaningful action that might actually help matters), but he's better than the alternative.
Romney may or may not be a decent guy and may or may not have some good ideas about how to fix the economy. That sort of depends on which way the wind is blowing when he happens to open his mouth. What we do know is that he'll be beholden to the extremists in the GOP - the same people who think denying objective reality and actively trying to destroy the economy just to score political points is a good idea.
I don't think there are any Republican candidates for me to vote for this time around. I can't bring myself to vote for someone who has no principles, so Romney is out, and the local Republicans yet again nominated a global-warming denialist, AIDS-denialist, ultra-right wing, Christian authoritarian, certifiably insane person as their candidate for house of representatives.
41 votes and still not a single person who Obama has won over, aka they voted McCain and now they're voting Obama. Only only two people willing to say he's been a wonderful president. Makes me very curious how this looks on a national level.
I'm shocked that as I post this, the polls are tied 16 for each, guess the Republican sock puppets haven't caught wind of this thread yet. Definitely voting for Obama, Romney is more of a scum. Lots of so called moral people want to vote for a man who tied a dog to his car roof and laughs about it. I don't like Obama but I'm terrified of the prospect of Romney putting a Clarence Thomas-like American Taliban guy on the Supreme Court. The candidates are otherwise pretty much the same on almost everything significant, both corporate pandering right wingers with Obama just more liberal on social issues.
As an independent, I voted for Obama, but would vote for Ron
Paul enthusiastically if his name would be on ticket. Then for the current choice, I will vote for Obama, it's not really for him or against Romney, but against GOP's rapid radicalization which Romney must follow considering his flip flop character.
OTOH, I wish GOP's win because this would be their last chance or two to be still a dominant party due to their destructive behavior and dramatic demography change.
