It's the economy stupid; and lots of stupid made the economy get worse under Obama.
Remember the felony would have showed up in Romney's 2009 tax returns. That was a year after McCain reviewed them. If Romney was avoiding to pay some of his income taxes in off shore accounts, McCain would not have known about it. How do you think many rich people get away illegally without paying income taxes? The IRS didn't have access to financial information in Swiss banks and other off shore accounts, That's why tax dodgers use off shore accounts in the first place. What McCain saw is only what Romney reported. Romney made income from multiple sources, not just Bain.

Lawrence O’Donnell Asks Tax Attorney If Romney May Be Hiding A Felony In His Tax Returns | Mediaite
Wealthy U.S. taxpayers, concerned about an Internal Revenue Service crackdown on the use of secret overseas bank accounts as tax havens, were rushing to meet a deadline to disclose those accounts or face possible criminal prosecution. The concern was triggered when Switzerland's largest bank, caught up in an international tax evasion dispute, said it would disclose the names of more than 4,000 of its U.S. account holders.
The decision shattered a long-held belief that Swiss banks would guard the identities of its American customers as carefully as they did their money, and it raised concern that other international tax havens might be next. Under an amnesty program, the IRS is allowing taxpayers to avoid prosecution for having failed to report their overseas accounts. As a result, tax attorneys across the nation have been besieged by wealthy clients who are lining up to apply even though they will still face big financial penalties.

Romney might well have thought in 2007 and 2008 that there was nothing to fear about a non-disclosed offshore account he'd set up years earlier precisely because it wasn't disclosed. But then came the settlement and the rush of non-disclosers to apply for the amnesty. Failing to apply for the amnesty and then getting charged by the IRS would have been both financially and politically disastrous. So amnesty it was.

Remember Romney has money all over the world including a Swiss account. There is a reason some rich people do this.

Right- The IRS has access to his tax returns, as well as the Obama administration. If he had committed a crime, the IRS would have already processed charges. The fact that nothing has been done shows that no crimes have been committed.............................

..................... on the other hand, no one knows what is in Obama's college transcripts, which probably reveals that he is a foriegn national. Obama probably HAS committed a crime. We will only find out after he leaves office.

If you think Romney committed a crime on his taxes- arrest him. The left wing loons are squirming like an ant under a magnifying glass, realizing that Obama's days are numbered. It all started out with such hope in 2008. The libs really felt as though Bo was a leftist messiah. It all ended so badly for him.

Can't convince me even the most ardent Obama hater, doesn't think the Romney's are hiding some very damaging stuff in his taxes. Please, that would defy any logic.

No it would not. FBAR reporting is different to tax returns. If there was back tax and penalties that would have been the subject of separate correspondence.

The only way to see if there were new bank accounts disclosed in his tax returns would be to compare line items from multiple years.

Which bit of 'amnesty' are you having difficulty with?

Also, FBAR reporting is different to filing tax returns.

The IRS wouldn't have charged Romney if he participated in the 2009 IRS amnesty program and Romney won't release anything before 2010. If you signed up for that, you avoided criminal prosecution, got a slap on the wrist and just paid a big fine.

Set the agenda? He doesn't even have the cojones to make an announcement that he won't release any more tax returns. He hid behind his wife's skirts and sent her out to do it and let her take the flack.

He'll have to grow a tougher hide before he can set anything. Some leader. "Willard of Oz" fits him to a tee.

I think the key is some how finding documentation that shows Romney signed up for the 2009 IRS amnesty program.

Romney and wife Ann claim they have paid taxes which of course they have paid property taxes and sales taxes but they are very carefully coached by their attorneys to NEVER say income taxes. You won't hear the Romneys EVER say they have paid their income taxes.

another interesting fact. Romney has made his 2010 return public but without the FBAR document detailing his off-shore accounts. Folks where there is smoke there is fire and the barn is about to burn down.
