GOP's Obama obsession will lose it the election - CNN.com

CNN) -- A month ago, when Mitt Romney addressed the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials during its annual conference in Orlando, Florida, many thought he was on a path to adopting a more nuanced tone on immigration and coming up with an aggressive strategy to woo Latino voters to his side.

Instead, he lately seems to have adopted U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's messaging strategy, using a version of the Minnesotan's line from the 2008 campaign when she went on a rant about the views of then-Sen. Barack Obama and his wife being "very anti-American."

Romney is not making it easier for Latinos to support him. In fact, the strategy will continue alienating this critical demographic group, along with independents and women.

Thank you republicans

"Obama obsession?" It's an election dude, who do you want Romney and the GOP to run against? If latinos want to stay on food stamps and live a miserable impoverished life, then by all means, vote for Obama.

Obama is just as obsessed with Romney. Even he is smart enough to realize he can't campaign solely on his merit.

Romney can skate by with 30-ish% of the latino vote depending on the state, so long as he pulls in the white vote around the low to mid-70s. In Florida if undecided whites break in his favor, he's got it in the bag.

Oh, grow up! There is no "monolithic Republicanism".

What there is, is a loose coalition of people from many backgrounds who understand that the current occupant of the White House and his troupe of clowns has about as much understanding of how things work on the street as a boar hog.

Barry-O's stereotyping of blue-collar conservatives hurt him badly in the Pennsylvania primary four years ago; and as demonstrated by the smears posted by some of the poitical preschoolers here, that bigotry is hard to shake.

What goes around, comes around.

Republicans will lose because they are making the same mistake Democrats made back in 2004. They just wanted someone to beat Bush, so they ran a boring guy from Massachusetts.

There's that but also he's allowing his strengths to be turned into weaknesses.

Romney has a tough row to hoe... to even come close to winning, he's gotta persuade the moderate independents and he has to keep the base motivated enuff to show up at the polls! Especially since he ain't that 'charismatic' with either one!

This election is a referendum against Barack Obama. Mitt Romney just needs to keep doing what he's doing and not make any damning gaffes and I believe he's got the election in the bag. Quite simply, people are in shock and are disgusted over Mr. Hope N Change's disgraceful transformation after the sky high rhetoric of 2008. Couple that with an awful track record as President and people, I believe, will be more than willing to hold their nose while they pull the lever for Romney.
