That's right, never. With this current crop of Republicans, Obama could literally propose to ban abortion and lower taxes 10 percent and Republicans would still vote it down just because it was Obama's idea.
Exactly right. They proved this with the mandate in the healthcare bill--they hate it simply because the Democrats passed it, even though it's a Republican idea, first proposed in a policy paper by the conservative Heritage Foundation, picked up and pushed by Republican Newt Gingrich in the '90s, and then implemented by Republican Romney in Massachusetts in 2006. It's obvious that the conservatives were all for the mandate before Obama agreed with them--then suddenly they were against it.

Anything that Obama proposes, no matter what it is, must be opposed. Period. What a way to run a government.

Good post. I call it the reverse Jedi mind tricks.

"These are the droids you're looking for."

"No, they're not"

Unfortunately, Romney has fallen into this same trap. He's letting Obama form his platform for him.

I bet almost all of those morons in that video haven't taken 2 minutes to lay any blame on the 2000's Republicans for doing nothing to prevent the Great Recession. Welcome to America. Conservatism here is all about bible thumping and an aversion to rational thought.

Obama: If You've Got A Business, You Didn't Build That - YouTube

here's the clip.

it's pretty obvious what he is saying, and what his audience thinks he is saying.

I'm sorry, but what you are you talking about? Should you have issue with my statement, then feel free to use the usual debating tactics to take issues with it. Unless you can do that, why are you even posting here?

for those on the left who are playing "dense", here is a direct quote from obama:

"Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

who the heck does he think paid for the government research? DUH!

he really needs to get a clue, and it is frightening that he is "leading" this country right now.

America was created by individuals. Individuals ALLOW the government to collect taxes to be used for infrastructure building that they WILLINGLY approve - such that future individuals can continue to create wealth for themselves and growth opportunities in America.

at least that was the idea.

What's really frightening is that the DUH! belongs to you and you don't even see it. Yes, he is saying that when we all work together on things that are of benefit to all of us--like funding research for innovation--we can create awesome things like the Internet. See how that works? We fund things that improve the quality of life for all Americans and we all end up better off because of it.

Talk about DUH! Don't you feel silly now?

not at all.

what has obama done that has improved the country? he DIVERTS private sector money and puts the citizens further into debt. he has a long history of taxpayer abuse, from the stimulus to solyndra and all the failed solar energy companies, the wars, the taxpayers being forced to pay for illegal immigration, the fast and furious program, etc.

and this:

http://weaselzippers.us/2012/07/17/d...timulus-money/

and this:

and this:
http://news.antiwar.com/2012/07/21/u...t-syrian-govt/

or this:
$38,522,000 for the high intensity drug trafficking areas program (HIDTA) at the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). After 40 years and $1 trillion spent, drug use among Americans has not changed much, while some reports suggest drug use among teenagers has increased in the last three years. ONDCP Director Richard Kerlikowske has admitted the shortcomings of the War on Drugs, stating in May 2010, “In the grand scheme, it has not been successful. Forty years later, the concern about drugs and drug problems is, if anything, magnified, intensified.”

Of course, this lack of progress has not stopped taxpayer money from flowing to the ONDCP, which received a $27.1 million appropriation in FY 2011

so basically the government diverts private sector money which could be used to create actual jobs and turns it into waste.

if you want more examples, i have plenty of them.

against our will.

so basically obama insults the private sector and the citizens even as he squanders their money, and drives them further into poverty.

Of course he's not saying that. He's saying that we Americans are great when we pull together; that when we help each other we can accomplish so much more than when we don't, and that yes, the government has a role in that. I'm not sure why that concept is so threatening to conservatives. All I can figure is that you guys must really hate your fellow Americans.
