How "romantically involved" do you suppose Ann and Mitt were when they could not even have a one-minute private conversation?

I guess the solution to the problem would have been for the ward bishop to tell Ann to stop coming to church until after Mitt returned to the U.S. because if she showed up, he might see her.
I dunno. He asked her to marry him before this mission occured. I would define that as being romantically involved. What you define it as?

But yeah, I agree with you that beating this dead horse doesn't really matter. Election won't be decided on this. I think it shows that he got preferential treatment, though, unless I'm mistaken. I'll Pm a mod to close the thread, since really, I think it's at a stand still.

Thanks for your input, it was greatly appreciated, sir/ma'am.

I agree with part of your post though, it is what it is. It's Nothing. it's like grabbing at straws or pi--ing
into the wind. Sheesh that's penny ante-----------

Aye. Who cares if he can follow the tenets of his religion. I think most of America would agree with you that even though he was romantically involved with Ann, he should still be allowed to see her. No matter what the mormons on this thread have said about it wasn't alllowed and he would have been booted back to America for not being a faithful mormon.

Mitt just gets special treatment. Not even an issue.

Well, being a Mormon yourself, its not exactly like you're "unbiased" in this matter either, right?

And when a candidate's religion spends millions trying to influence an election to fit its values, it's not simply his "Sunday mornings" that we should be concerned about.

Since I'm voting for Obama instead of Romney, you're right, I have no religious bias in this election. Can you say the same?

I think you should be concerned about Mitt Romney, the individual. Take Bill Marriott, for instance. Like Romney, he's a staunch Mormon. As the CEO of the Marriott Corporation, he is also extremely wealthy. I'm not 100% sure of his political affiliation, but I strongly suspect he's a Republican. Here's a statement he made recently with regards to his feelings about Prop 8:

"As many of you may know I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some might conclude given my family's membership in the Mormon Church that our company supported the recent ballot initiative to ban same sex marriage in California. This is simply untrue. Marriott International is a public company headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, and is not controlled by any one individual or family. Neither I, nor the company, contributed to the campaign to pass Proposition 8."

What I'm saying is that it really shouldn't matter what Mitt's religion does. What matters is if Mitt would be influenced in his decisions by his Church's policies on issues like this one. Marriott, as a Mormon, clearly wouldn't be. I don't personally know about Romney. If he would, then that's a legitimate concern. You just can't assume that he would simply because he's a Mormon. If you have some information to share that would help me understand why you think he would, please share it. I'd be happy to read it.
