There is voter fraud in the US. It's small but it exists. There is virtually no voter ID fraud. Why are the Republicans going after fraud which doesn't exist while ignoring real fraud?

Okay, so you are judging everybody else's situation by your own.
Nothing "hard" about it if given some time. These last-minute laws were hurriedly put in place by repugs in the hope that many people, whether elderly, would run out of time before they could secure i.d. If you want i.d. then institute laws at the beginning of electoral terms - not at the end. This is just another slimy republican maneuver - a real attempt at undermining the democracy which they hate.
Here again, there is virtually zero fraud by walk-in voters, and repugs know it. A trumped-up "solution" to no problem.
However there is other fraud which repubs strangely don't care about. Notice these have nothing to do with voter i.d. There are too many links like this to post.

For one, the potential problem is other than voter i.d. - such as rigging elections, and behind-the-scenes corruption - much more extensive ramifications. See above.

Some blue states were the first to enact photo ID laws with the Democrats doing it.....why only outrage when Republicans do it?

I don't care why the politicians do it, I just want them to be honest about it.

The photo ID laws are not to prevent voter fraud, we virtually don't have voter fraud.

Therefore the claim that the laws are to help fight voter fraud is dishonest.

I'm confident a whole lot - perhaps most - of these 750K registered voters without ID are what is euphemistically called "deadwood".

Voter deadwood refers to registered voters who aren't really around to vote. Voters move out of the state all the time - hasn't PA had net outmigration over the last couple decades or so?

Also there are surely dead people still registered to vote, these people are removed from the voter rolls more slowly in some places than in others.

Theoretically, when voters move out of state they reregister in their new state and the appropriate election office in their new state sends a cancellation to their old state (county usually).

Things often don't go as smoothly as theory suggests they should, and a lot of people remain registered in their old state and county for years after they've moved out, because the cancellation never made it back to the right place.

Deadwood usually doesn't vote because it's not around locally to do so, and if it does, that's fraud.

There is also in-state deadwood consisting of people who moved from one county to another and are registered in two or more counties, but this should generally be detected and resolved by checking voter registrations against the state driver file, which presumably has already been done in PA.
So a whole lot of those 750K won't be voting this year, and when the deadwood component of that 750K doesn't vote, at least that part can't be blamed on voter ID.

Even those too dumb to get their ID still won't be turned away! They can vote by mail or in person using a provisional ballot in PA.

I think this has been noted 8-9 times. Who knows, maybe it will kick in on the 10th.

If they can get to the polls on a regular basis, then they can get to DL center to get ID, it is only a one tie deal and there is plenty of time.
