To be honest, I never heard Clinton say it was a good idea. I heard him say this should get the dems to do something. I heard Ryan say that because of this paralysis will set in (I assume due to the fact he meant that congress is vehemently polarized thus the paralysis we are currently suffering through) and I heard him mentioned that we put ourselves out there but he wanted to get things moving. From that, I take it that he knows it sucks (his own plan) but wanted to use it as a starting point to find a way back to the middle. Of course, as we know, congress will not have any of that "compromise." And now, Ryan and Romney are still pushing the initial point as the defacto place they want to be thanks to partisan politics.
