There sure are some stupid people in this thread who are too dumb to know that North Carolina is just up the coast. And the D convention is just a week later.
I am sitting out the TNut onslaught on Tampa here in Biloxi, however, it now looks I may have to dodge Isaac, and return to the nut job parade site.
VP Biden cancelled his trip because, as he puts it, "to ensure all law enforcement and emergency mgmnt can focus on safety of those who might be impacted by the storm"!! But then he is a man of the people.

I'd like to know why the parties---both of them---keep planning conventions in the south during hurricane season. Surely there must be someplace big enough in cities that are not effected by seasonal weather patterns.
They had delays/issues/no-shows related to hurricanes when the conventions were held in NY and MN. Not because of the storm threatening to hit the convention, but because of the overall effect on the country or because speakers were from the hurricane states.
Just like some Democrats thinking God wields natural disasters as a warning to Republicans.
"Would it be wrong to ask people to pray? Would it be wrong if we asked people to pray for rain? O.K., not just rain, abundant rain. Torrential rain. Urban and small stream flood advisory rain. Would it be wrong if we prayed for rain on, say, a particular night at, say, a particular location? Ah, say the evening of August 28th, right here at Mile High Stadium here in Denver. During the prime time t.v. hour when a certain presumptive nominee is set to give a certain acceptance speech at a certain Democratic National Convention?" Focus on the Family spokesman Stuart Shepherd, speaking in 2008."
Monday is already cancelled. The hurricane is forecast to hit somewhere on Tuesday.
The national news is going to be focused on the hurricane on Tuesday as it is hitting, and on Wednesday if property damage is bad.
This is going to take some of the spotlight away from the RCP on Tuesday and most likely Wednesday. Furthermore, it will set a more somber tone for the overall event.
Also, local, state and federal government agencies will be in full swing and in the news regarding the hurricane aftermath. When the RCP keeps bashing anything to do with government, you're going to switch the channel and see government heroes as first responders.
Heck, it's a government agency (NOAA) that tracks the hurricane's strength, tracks water temperatures and wave heights, and forecasts when and where a hurricane is likely to hit. Maybe this is one of the many agencies the GOP would like to cut. Then we can go back to 1850 and rely on our family to forecast the hurricanes, like the GOP wants us to do for everything.
Incredible. They cancelled the first day of their convention eight years ago for a hurricane as well - although in that situation, the hurricane was hundreds of miles away.
It is a simple matter of caring what happens to the community, they know that all the hot air coming from the convention would push the hurricane to at least Cat 5 levels.

Late Tuesday or early Wednesday New Orleans. Yep, let's bash the Govt response capabilities.
