And this is in large part due to GOP leaders insistence that laying people off means more people will have jobs. Unless the people being laid off work in defense, of course, *then* it's a job loss. Republicans in congress have done very little to spur job growth, wasting their time on things like denying people health care and worrying over nonsense like net neutrality, and republicans at the state and local levels have been willfully destructive, firing public workers by the hundreds of thousands.

Because the republicans continue to obstruct the jobs bill, holding it hostage unless the rich get paid a ransom up front. The Fed figured somebody had to do something since the Teabillies won't get off thieir collective asses and do the job they were elected to do. IMHO they should be tried for treason for intentionally trying to destroy the economy for the sake of politics.

QE will result in a smaller money supply and inflation, which will drive an upward cycle. It will be good for America.

LOL, I would be embarrassed to post something like this.

This is the GOP/conservative view: "The government shouldn't use fiscal or monetary policy to improve the economy and we will stonewall any actions; we just want hamper Obama and complain that he isn't fixing the economy."
Oh yea obama says things are just great now!

Why would Republicans object to the economy getting better?

They aren't. Republicans want the economy to get better after all if you are a business Republicans want less spending at the government level, this is something the democrats fear the most. It is only the democrats who are trying to take out an important part of the economic equation. Right now you are seeing the result of Democratic thinking, still above 8% unemployment, extended unemployment benefits, a huge jump of people on welfare, businesses moving outside the U.S, businesses closing. This is all before increase taxation even took effect but because of the threat. If it does take effect it will be much worse for the middle class.

I think Obama does not want the economy to get better. You don't worry about green energy before worrying about getting people back to work.

I know that's the Republican proposal for helping the economy, but I see no basis where it's going to be a dramatic help. Also, the arbitrary "1.2 million jobs created!" number from increased energy production sounds like a bad joke to me. In two years, this was all they could come up with, and then they complain about the Democrats blocking them? They only proposed 16 bills to help the economy in 2 years? Assuming it takes one legislative aid an entire week to write a bill, this "effort" was something like 4 months of work for one person, to come up with the same bunch of tired ideas that helped get us here. So yeah, I find this complaint that Obama blocked congressional efforts by the Republicans sort of lame. They spent more time trying to repeal the ACA than trying to help the economy.
