The red states below reflect the States with the highest percentage of tax filers with no tax liability.
These are people who pay no income tax…[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. - Mitt Romney
The first picture looks like fine healthy young men..who served in the military and had body parts blow off..so now these guys who served the rich by going to war for them are leeches?
Apparently anyone who needs a helping hand, regardless of why, is being demonized by Romney and the Right.
I think it is funny that people try to defend this statement. It would be one thing to state that about half of the People are going to vote for Obama because they support Big Government. It's partisan, sure. It's an entirely different thing to say 47% are going to vote for Obama because they don't pay taxes and are dependent on the government. That is like Obama saying 47% of the people are going to vote for Romney because they are racist. It is statements of this magnitude that swing elections. I mean imagine if you actually heard those words come out of Obama's mouth. Anyone would look really stupid trying to defend a remark like that, like those trying to defend Romney.
PS: And no that whole "You didn't build that" thing is not even close.
Kudos to you! You put this in perspective so well.
Romney Talks Bluntly of Those Dependent on Government
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
September 17, 2012, 6:51 pm
10:48 p.m. | Updated WASHINGTON — During a private reception with donors earlier this year, Mitt Romney described almost half of Americans as “people who pay no income tax†and are “dependent upon government.†Those voters, he said, are likely to support President Obama because they believe they are “entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it.â€
It has been a long-term goal of the left, to get at least half the population to a point where they pay no income taxes at all.
Once that is achieved, the left can be assured that none of their bills to increase income taxes by 10%, 20%, 50% or whatever, will EVER be voted down by a majority, since the increases will never apply to the majority. And that most of their other tax increases will be able to ride on the coattails of that major fact.
Many philosophers have pointed out that, in a pure democracy, the majority has it in their power to disenfranchise and enslave the minority. That is exactly the left's goal.
Only 13% of the population is age 65 and older. Of those, 23% DO pay federal income tax. The elderly account for less than 1/5 of those not paying any federal income tax. The elderly are NOT the problem. It's the other 80+% of those who don't pay federal income tax that will capsize the ship.

OK, so 61% of these "takers" actually work, and 26% are retired. That's 87%, which leaves only 13% (not 80%). How many of these 13% "takers" are disabled military veterans? How many are disabled for other reasons?
Maybe the conservatives witness the affect of government dependency first hand and vote accordingly?
Or, more likely, the conservative establishment has tricked the red states, playing up the emotional touchstones of conservatism and perpetuating a sense of a vast liberal empire out to crush traditional values while barely ever discussing the Republicans' actual economic policies and what they mean to the working class. Thus the pro-life red-state low income worker who listens to Rush Limbaugh will repeatedly vote for the party that is less likely to protect his safety, less likely to protect his job, and less likely to benefit him economically.
Apparently anyone who needs a helping hand, regardless of why, is being demonized by Romney and the Right.
Thats the way you may want to present it dosnt mean thats the way it is. They served their time and were told they would be taken care of if something happened. Now its time to take care of them.
Funny ya didnt post a pic of a welfare recipiant who never worked drinking midday, why is that?
He has not only a delusional liberal would think that. What he said is the truth and is a staple of conservative thought for 30 years or so. Now he needs to go on the attack. Show some videos like this in an ad, that way folks can see who he is talking about.
You have a problem with the over 20% of the population who are children and not paying taxes?
Wow. Really? Really?!?
Children are not considered a tax unit. The IRS data on the percentages of those who do and don't pay federal income tax includes only tax units.
Quote:
"In summary, for tax year 2009, approximately 22 percent of all tax units, including filers and non filers, will have zero income tax liability, approximately 30% will receive a refundable credit, and approximately 49% will have a positive income tax liability."
In IRS terminology, a tax unit is an individual, or a married couple who are eligible to file a tax return jointly, and includes within the unit any and all dependents of that individual or married couple.
Thats the way you may want to present it dosnt mean thats the way it is. They served their time and were told they would be taken care of if something happened. Now its time to take care of them.

Do you have any statistics about the % of welfare recipients who never worked and drink midday?
