It isn't.
An isolated incident how? His family died in an awful crash. Maybe he still thinks the guy was drunk when he did it. Maybe he is hurt and angry since his wife and child died. What does this have to do with anything? His family died, leave it at that.

Not true. I know better; I was a teenager in the 70s. It was not legal to drink and drive. It was DWI, not DUI, then. The laws were not as strict then, and sometimes a policeman would tell people to go home instead of arresting them, but it was definitely a legal issue. History of DUI Laws

It was a traffic offense rather than a criminal offense. I should have clarified that.

How much could you drink before you were considered impaired?

I don't think they had to prove blood alcohol content then. They did field sobriety tests. If they said you were drunk, you were drunk.

Biden's behavior as VP IMO has been a disgrace to the office. How many times has he been caught using foul language? His arrogance and attitude during the debate were no better than the middle school class clown. He is an egotistical liar who is an embarrassment to the US.

It's Joe Biden we're talking about here. I wouldn't make that comment about anyone else.

You're also talking about a 1 year old child that died in the crash. And his 2 sons who were severely injured (one who is serving this country in the military)

I guess her mother wanted to kill them too, just because she was married to Joe Biden?

Seriously, gross.

The standard back then was .15 BAC. I think if you do some research on MADD, you will find that part of their early goals was getting the standard down to .10, and then down to .08. Because at .15, most of us would be visibly impaired.

I appreciate that you recognize, then, how offensive the comment was. I would hope that you would have the empathy to also recognize that Biden was a young man, then, with probably similar goals and aspirations to the dreams you had at 26. And that he lost his wife and daughter, and almost his two sons in that accident. A family he loved, like you love your family. You may hate what he stands for politically, you may hate some of the things he's done. But in hating those things, you aren't required to strip away the man's humanity, to the point where it's okay to make such a remark.
