"HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Police say the Green Party candidates for president and vice president have been arrested at the second presidential debate.
Nassau County, New York, police say Jill Stein, the Green presidential nominee, and Cheri Honkala, the vice-presidential nominee, were charged with disorderly conduct as they tried to enter the debate site at Hofstra University."
Apparenty this isn't the first time these two have been arrested.
Good for them! Got to respect their spunk. Truthfully, I think candidates that are on enough state ballots to conceivably win the Electoral College should be able to participate in the debates.
Never said I'd vote for them, just that they ought to be allowed in the debates. You have to admit, if nothing else, it would make the debates more interesting. Seriously, if we ever want to consider more than two parties, the debates have to be open. I can see not allowing in someone who can't possibly win, because they aren't even on enough state ballots to win in the Electoral College, but to only allow the top two parties is one more way to assure a two party system. Look at the difference Mr. Romney's first spin at the debates made. I'm sure Mr. Johnson's followers would agree with me, as would have Mr. Nadar's, Ms. Stein's, and some others. Shoot, the Tea Party might have splintered from the GOP, because it might increase their chances.
Okay, not these yoyos. But on the national level, if they manage to get on that many state ballots, they're real candidates.
