Romney: A Horse of a Different Color

Why would Christians embrace this religion? it's like the branch dividians, or Jim Jones, or the Scientology or the other whacked out religious zealots.

Does it not bother anyone that Flips grand father had multiple wives?

It seems normal people have taken leave of their senses.

Why are Dems embracing a bisexual Muslim?

I didn't know MLK was running for president! He'd have my vote if he were alive. He was a Republican, a conservative, religious, and straight; the very things' progressive liberals hate.

Let us know when you can post without expressing your racist babbling.

I personally think a cult belief is embracing a senator who had not even completed a single term in office based primarily on his TelePrompter skills, and persevering in that belief despite complete failure over the past four years. The economy remains in the doldrums and is extraordinarily fragile, the Federal deficit has mushroomed, huge amounts of stimulus money not only did no good, but moved through the system in an excruciatingly slow fashion. The Iraqis told us to leave Iraq, Afghanistan remains a morass, and our sole foreign policy accomplishment is assassinating Osama Bin Laden. He inflicted a wildly convoluted healthcare system on us that 2/3rds of the country didn't want. He signed into law legislation that straitjacketed lending and put put otherwise healthy community banks out of business by the score, yet aided the growth of Megabanks that were partly responsible for the financial meltdown in the first place. He named a Secretary of Treasury who presided over the casino-like spree of Wall Street as President of the New York Federal Reserve, filled his staff with Goldman Sachs alums, yet decries Wall Street. Because he doesn't have any notable accomplishment in his first time and apparently doesn't have any plan for his second, his sole campaign strategy is to depict the Republican challenger as the bogeyman.

So who is guilty of cult-like beliefs?

I think their concern is significantly greater than it should be. Should Romney become President (which I don't personally see happening), I really can't see his religious beliefs as affecting the daily lives of non-Mormons. I can see his political ideology affecting the daily lives of non-Mormons, but not his religious beliefs.

Why, thank you! That's really nice to hear. And whether you believe it or not, I can actually understand why you have no desire to sit and listen to some Mormon kid on a bike tell you about the faith.
Agreed! I've posted this before, but it bears repeating: My niece by marriage, a non-practicing Mormon, moved to PA in 2006 and was appalled at the anti-Mormon sentiment there over the idea of Romney running in the primaries for the 2008 nomination. You don't see that so much here in Colorado, where there is a fairly large Mormon population and most of us have Mormon friends.

You can't assume that any more than I would assume that all black people agree with Farrkhan that all white people should be killed.

All such rhetoric is just ugly and unnecessary.

If you did say the part that I have bolded then it would be a lie since Farrakhan has never said that..

I had a Mormon boss for years, and he and his family were some of the nicest, most caring people I've ever known. For some of these posters to say that Mormon's have no values is the polar opposite of the truth, and shows just how disconnected from reality they are. And this is coming from a Christian who supposedly hates Mormons. Will wonders ever cease?

Nope. I'm a political independent, but I'm always amazed at the casual bigotry and the intolerance of the left.

Look, I'm not Mormon. No way would I be Mormon. I don't agree with Mormon beliefs. I've read their theology, I've entertained their missionaries, and I think it's a bunch of weird rubbish. At the same time, I don't have a problem with Mormons as long as they do not try to inflict their beliefs on me. I've found Mormons to be hardworking, conscientious, and generally an asset to any community in which they reside.

You make the most extreme displays of ignorance, arrogance and bigotry yet take issue with anyone who has the audacity to call you out on it. You are drowning in hypocrisy.

The left? 'Scuse me? Is Mike Huckabee a "leftist"? He's one of the Mormon haters. And it was the 'Pubs in Pittsburgh that didn't want Romney to run in the PA primaries. Not to mention all the hate towards Obama's religion. Granted, I've seen a lot of anti-religious stuff from the left on here too, but it's by no means exclusive.
