There are two daily newspapers in Salt Lake City. One is the pro-LDS "Deseret News." The other is the anti-LDS "Salt Lake Tribune." It is no huge surprise that the Tribune endorsed Obama. The fact that it's located in Salt Lake City is a total non-issue.

Obama's record on the economy the past four years does not suggest he would lead in the direction the nation must go in the next four years.

Voters should give Mitt Romney a chance to correct the nation’s fiscal course and to implode the partisan gridlock that has shackled Washington and the rest of America — with the understanding that he would face the same assessment in four years if he does not succeed.

Their endorsement is a reflection of the voter sentiment in the state. Romney will win big here. Iowa usually votes democratic for president, but talking to people around the state, there is tremendous negative sentiment toward Obama. Many previous Obama supporters are voting for Romney.

Like many "swing states", Obama will lose much bigger than the polls suggest.

As I said earlier, all of these newspaper endorsements probably don't have much weight with voters, but the do provide 'bragging' rights.
