Volunteer election poll watchers from True the Vote, the Houston-based nonpartisan election integrity group, are reporting that Houston’s NAACP chapter has taken over an election polling station.

And where is our government that is responsible for fair elections?

HOUSTON, TX - Friday afternoon at an early polling place located at 6719 W. Montgomery Road in Houston, NAACP members were seen advocating for President Barack Obama according to volunteer poll watchers on location at the time.

According to Eve Rockford, a poll watcher trained by voter integrity group True the Vote, three NAACP members showed up to the 139 precinct location with 50 cases of bottled water and began handing bottles out to people standing in line.

Maybe more "credible" sites will not carry this, Arus.

I am a trained poll observer and am familiar with True the Vote. The details in this incident report ring true. Two poll observers in my city have had similar experiences. I talked with them personally. But I am wondering why the poll observer let the incident drop because the local Board of Elections told her to. ("Downtown" was probably the Board of Elections). She should have had some hotline numbers to call so that someone could be sent to the location to stop the in-your-face violations of voting laws. Even political parties are usually armed with attornies.

It's no surprise that you will not find this posted at any credible sites. True the Vote is anything but an independent organization. The group was begun by the Tea Party with the goal of suppressing the minority vote (which they, of course, label "voter fraud"). A friend of mine belongs to an association of lawyers who are planning to fan out across our state and keep an eye on these so-called poll watchers on Tuesday to minimize their attempts at voter intimidation.

It's amusing to see these right wingers all irate because a left wing group has decided to do exactly what they are doing--monitoring the polling places to assure everyone who wants to vote and is eligible is able to. I think the Tea Party thought they were going to be able to run roughshod over polling places unopposed. Guess not.

Volunteer election poll watchers from True the Vote, the Houston-based nonpartisan election integrity group, are reporting that Houston’s NAACP chapter has taken over an election polling station.

The full sworn statement of the True the Vote volunteer who claims to have witnessed the event is below:

Incident Report

Eve Rockford

Precinct: 139 Polling location: Acres Home Multi Service

6719 W. Montgomery Road, Houston, TX 77091 County: Harris

Poll Supervisor: Rose Cochran

Asst. Supervisor: Bernard Guskie

Clerk: Lawrence Simko, Marsha, Franchetta Pines, Dayan Cohen

Offender: NAACP and Sylvester Turner

Date and Times: 11/2/2012 2:25 and 5:25

At 2:25 the NAACP 3 representatives arrived with probably 50 cases of bottled water and began loading them on dollies handing them out to people standing in line. They were talking to them about flying to Ohio to promote Barack Obama.

That "source" was actually just a repost that originated on Breitbart. So you still have no credible source on this.
