I guess Im a little shocked at Maine passing gay marriage. From what I saw of that state (Lewiston, Auburn, and Portland) it's pretty redneck, Yankee style (Yankneck?), once you get outside of the old part of Portland..

These are state issues, if we were to make same-sex marriage a nationwide vote, then I am sure voters would turn it down. A few states approving these things doesn't speak for the whole country.
Most of this country also opposed interracial marriage and rights for women. I have no respect for Americans as a population. The majority are very poorly educated. The trend, however, is clear that the lunatic right wingers and ignorant side are losing ground.
Christianity will be banned. Liberals today say that's tinfoil stuff, but I promise you, check back in 30 years and Christianity will be either completely illegal or driven underground.
Meanwhile, every city will have a "sex forum" like the ancient Greeks did, a place in town where everybody can go have free public sex with whomever they want, even children, no laws whatsoever.
I find your persecution complex entirely disgusting and unChristian. I'm part of the 2 most persecuted minorities on Earth, and you're part of the majority in the most religious 1st World country on the planet.

Polls in 2012
A June 6 CNN/ORC International poll showed that a majority of Americans support same-sex marriage being legalized at 54%, while 42% are opposed.
A May 22 NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showed that 54% of Americans would support a law in their state making same-sex marriage legal, with 40% opposed.
A May 17–20 ABC News/Washington Post poll showed that 53% believe same-sex marriage should be legal, with only 39% opposed, a low point for opposition in any national poll so far.
A May 10 USA Today/Gallup Poll, taken one day after Barack Obama became the first sitting President to express support for same-sex marriage, showed 51% of Americans agreed with the President's endorsement, while 45% disagreed. A May 8 Gallup Poll showed plurality support for same-sex marriage nationwide, with 50% in favor and 48% opposed.
