Analysts have been predicting it, but, once again, Nate Silver has hard numbers to back it up. Election Forecasts - FiveThirtyEight Blog - NYTimes.com

It turns out that Colorado, not Ohio, was the tipping point state and that Romney needed a staggering 53 percent of the popular vote (something no Republican has achieved since 1988) to win the Electoral College.

If these numbers hold, Democrats can forego Florida, Virginia, and Ohio and still with Electoral College. The numbers are so bad that the 2016 election may be over before a single candidate has declared. All the Democrats have to do is ensure the same Latino turn-out in Nevada and Colorado and itís game over.

Wow.

It is quite simple. The Republican Party must reinvent themselves or die. They won the election among old white people but got crushed in every other demographic. That means they're only winning among the fastest shrinking, closest to death demographic. Ain't gonna work.

There are conservative-thinking Jews, Muslims, Asians, Blacks and Latinos out there. They don't trust the GOP enough and have all cast their lot with the Democrats instead. If you can't draw people that think pretty much the same way that you do among minority groups, something is seriously wrong.

Get out of people's bedrooms. Make it very clear that you don't hate Asians, Hispanics, Blacks, Jews and Muslims. Give over and drop the desperate need to be the world's policeman. Trying running in the opposite direction entirely. The Dems aren't so you might just gain on them by being the voice of reason. Decry the trillions of dollars wasted on fulfilling a world policeman role that only earns the USA resentment abroad. Stop trying to control how people think. Protecting Americans from themselves with things like the war on drugs doesn't work. Be the voice of reason calling for an end to the insanity. When you say you want less federal government, actually do something more than talk about it. Stop trying to argue against science on such a vast array of issues. Build a plan to truly solve the illegal immigrant problem -- one that actually has some chance of success. That means a reasonable path to citizenship, a simplified system of naturalization and tossing our idiotic quota system in the garbage. That would actually save us a lot of money too. Simplify everything. Or just join the Libertarian Party.
