Mitt Romney had planned to celebrate his election as the nation’s 45th president with an eight-minute fireworks display over Boston Harbor.

The same company that does some of the illuminations for Boston’s Fourth of July celebration was poised to ignite fireworks within view of Romney’s party at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center to celebrate a win over President Obama.

“It was not an intense, grand finale-type of display for eight minutes, but it certainly was a fast-paced show to cap off the evening, if it were necessary,” company CEO Steve Pelkey told the Globe today.

Talk about hubris! I don't recall any other presidential candidate celebrating a win in such a blatant, self-aggrandizing way, especially with such a divided electorate. What a tasteless lack of class that would have displayed. He clearly believed his own hype.

Just another huge misstep, mittens should have used the money to wind down his campaign and not leave staffers in a lurch.

He should have cancelled that order the day the recording about the 47% hit the news. I'm still shocked that Karl Rove was unable to buy that recording before it hit the media.

Well, the person who recorded that is a hero in my book.

I guess that explains why Mitt cancelled the staffers credit cards, he had to pay the people for the faux fire works display. I know there is some crying today in the Romney househould. So pathetic...Fireworks??? I hope he goes to Bermuda, China and Cayman islands for 4 year long vacation. I dont want to see his face until 2016, hope he DOESN"t run again!!!!

Wow. For someone who the other day claimed she never shows disdain when people disagree with her, you sure are doing a good job.

agreed. They said on election night that he only had prepared a "victory speech", not a concession. He should have let the firework show continue. After all, it was a celebration that he lost.

Why not, he was holding "Victory Rallies" for a month, might as well cap off his misguided affair right.

Poor baby. That's the sort of thing he should have planned for his inauguration party, not an election night party. I hope it cost him a lot of money to have the fireworks company on stand-by.
