In order for private business owners to practice racism, that means the government has to enforce their practicing racism. That is not freedom that is the government practicing racism.
All the federal government has to do is not enforce any laws on individuals and who they serve.
If a private business owner doesn't want to provide wheel chair access, or handicapped parking, or serve a white guy, then that should be their choice.
Bobby Jindal is one of the extremists. He believes that same stuff that Todd Akin believes when it comes to abortion and evolution.
He is absolutely no different in his beliefs from the so called crazies.
I didn't read this link, but in the Politico piece, nowhere does Jindal mention anything about extremism. But it's interesting that in both this thread and the other one, someone recasts Jindal's comments as being a putdown of GOP 'extremism.'
I find often that when people talk negatively about GOP 'extremism,' all they really mean is that they don't like conservative Republicans, but can't come up with any legitimate articulable point just at the moment. It's just meaningless name-calling, IOW.

A friend of mine is a low level guy working for the state department and he had something pretty interesting to say on this subject about why conservatives are so uninformed and thus say so many stupid things.
The more Fox you watch the less informed you become. Stop watching Fox and you'll suddenly find out there is a whole world out there you never knew about when you lived in the right wing bubble. Facts are actually a good thing so you need creditable fact based sources to stay informed.

Nonsense, idea you put forth on this issue is idiocy. Look, if a store owner says, no black people allowed and a black person goes into that store. The government will either enforce the racism of the owner or will protect the civil rights of the black person. There is no neutrality.
If the government allows the practice of racism by private citizens that means the government is saying it is legal to practice racism and the government will enforce the practice of racism.
If the government does not enforce the practice of racism, then private citizens in the economic sphere cannot practice racism.
The ability to discriminate is a question of legality either it is legal to discriminate or it isn't. If is legal then the government has to enforce and protect what is legal, which means in your fantasy scenario the government ends up discriminating against its own citizens.

And even worse, is the dilemma of how to reconcile mainstream GOP political ambitions with the conservative media (FOX, Limbaugh, Coulter, etc.), which all have their own messaging, constituency and agenda driven primarily by profit, rather than traditional politics?
WOW! As Rupert Anderson said in "Mississippi Burning" as they are watching the killers squirm sensing their demise, "The rattlesnakes are starting to commit suicide".
The reason that the Republican party is known as the "rich white guy party" is because the "rich democrats" are willing to have their taxes go up from 36% to 39.6% to help the economy and address the deficit..........
And the "rich white Republicans" are not willing to do so.
I don't think any "Jindal" was storming the beaches of Normandy or fighting for our freedoms at the Battle of the Bulge.
He isn't a real American and his opinion means nothing to most Southerners.
This whole attitude that Conservatives have about being uniquely qualified about what makes somebody an American only further isolates you.
