Pubs: Cheney/Cain... The C/C team. Has a nice ring to it. And they like recycling has-beens.

These aren't necessarily my favorite choices on either party...but I have a feeling that they'll run. Christie has been reluctant in the past but I think he will get wrangled into the fray eventually. He will have more broad bi-partisan appeal after the storm and could pull NJ red. Hillary will definitely be older but I think she still has presidential ambitions and regardless of age...Hill-Dawg is very popular and would stand a good shot of winning. As far as the VP choices...I think Rubio will be the GOP VP choice because the hammering we took from the Latino demographic this year. Rubio will help in pulling Florida and some Latino voters. For the Dems I chose Tim Kaine. I think he is a good VP candidate because he is fairly popular in the South which is the biggest opportunity area for the Democrats. Kaine is fairly moderate and he does well in the rural parts of VA. He would almost guarentee a VA and NC win for the Democratic ticket.

Do you guys agree with my predictions? Who are your predictions?
As much as I keep saying, let's let one election set in before we start predicting another, it would be kinda fun to guess now and check back in 4 years or 3.5 and see how close we come. I will say, Rubio or Suzanna Martinez but the VP will be someone we aren't even thinking about right now. It almost always is. On the Democrat side: probably the governor of Maryland or possibly Cuomo..Again, no idea about VP.

As far as Christie, before Sandy I would have said he would have been my first choice for 2016 if Romney lost. Now I don't think I could vote for him even in the general election, much less in the GOP primary.
Same here about Chrisie, I was always a little leary as to whether he would really run, but now, not only do I not think he will, I don't think he would get the nomination. He shot himself in the foot...

It is highly unlikely I would vote for the GOP nominee, anyway. But I want their nominee to be someone better than Santorum in case that person ends up being our next President. And it may well be someone else who gets nominated. But based on trends and on his run this time around, I can definitely see a path to the nomination for him in 2016.
God that would be nauseating. Huntsman is my ideal candidate but he won't make it through the primaries. The primary will turn out the usual group of lunatics like Bachmann and Santorum...I just hope that a moderate like Christie or Huntsman can fight and claw enough to make it through because the difference between the general electorate and the primaries is night and day.

I feel the opposite about Chrstie. I think he made his road through the GOP primary a little more challenging but he helped himself in the general election. The only people that are pissed with Christie are the GOP hardliners. My VERY liberal uncle has said that he would come close to considering a vote for Christie if he ran against a weak Democrat and a few moderate friends at work have said that Christie earned their vote if he runs because of how he worked with Obama during Sandy. Christie showed America that he is a pragmatist and that is what moderates and independent voters are looking for. The middle grounders do NOT care about battling Obama just because he is the opposition...they care about the greater good of the country...and I think most of them would agree that Christie does as well.

Now.........if he could just lose some weight!

See what I said earlier for why I think Christie did what he did. I do not think of myself as a hardliner. There is no way in hell I would vote for Santorum, Bachmann, etc.

Perhaps you're a Huntsman guy like myself?

Yeah, Huntsman would be a decent choice, though I do have some issues with some things he's said about the party (as much as I have said I have problems with the party, that's different from a potential future presidential contender saying it) and I also think he wouldn't appeal at all to certain elements of the base.

Look at the problem some of the loons had with Romney, who did actually try to court them more than I think Huntsman would. I think him not being to their standards hurt him in the general election and not just in the primaries. (For example, I have heard about Republicans refusing to vote for him because he said he would work with the Democrats and anyone who will work with Democrats at all must be shunned in the loons' minds.)

Who is your ideal candidate?

I think Christie/Rubio are the likely candidates but I would like to see Huntsman/Condoleeza Rice. Huntsman and Rice would have broad appeal I believe....and it wouldn't hurt adding some diversity to the ticket.
