Ive heard people suggest this Chris Christie fellow is ingratiating himself in the minds of normal americans by trying to appeal to both Democrats and Republicans in order to position himself as a presidential candidate.

However, most ive heard suggest he is delusional to run, purely because he is fat.

Until the 1970s, history was littered with Fat and/or Bald presidents.

Follically challenged President Eisenhower

Tubby man mountain President Taft

What say you?

It didn't prevent him from winning election and carrying a high approval rating in a liberal state. In fact, his opponent, Jon Corzine, actually lost popularity when he resorted to fat jokes during the election campaign.

Fat people are a protected class(at least their feelings/pride). There are too many overweight Americans to ever make Gov. Fatty's weight an issue if he ever decided he wanted to run to become President Fatty.

Jon corzine? MF global jon corzine?

Plus, corzine has worse hair than Christie. Maybe americans think fatty is better than baldy.

I think the criticism of Christie's fatness is for health reasons. People are much more aware of health than they were 20+ years ago.

Fatness aside, Christie ruined his chances with Republicans with his Hurricane Sandy thing. It was bad enough that he slobbered over 0bama; the fact that he seemed to actually believe the words dribbling from 0bama's mouth proves he is a horrible judge of character. Anyone with a working brain knew 0bama was in it for a photo op and nothing else.

If Christie switched parties, he could win. He'll never win as a Republican.

I would say since America has been dumbed down to single digit IQ, pretty boy will win.

I would not sell him short, it takes courage to criticize your own party, pretty rare on either side of the aisle. He can be very abrasive at times but he speaks his mind. His weight was used against him in the election and didn't work, I don't think intelligent voters care how a candidate looks but some will make a decision just on appearance.

People would have to be pretty shallow to use his weight as an excuse. He doesn't do excuses as a leader. He does what needs to be done, maybe pissing people off along the way, but it's what is right to do.
Most times, the most popular, quickest or cheapest isn't right and he seems to get that.

It would say a lot for the lack of intelligence of voters if asked why they would/did not vote for him if the response was "because he's fat".

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me either.
