Nice shot at the black vote.

But at the end of the day, the black vote hasn't been worth a hill of beans at this point for Kentucky Democrats, has it?

Back to the drawing board.

And please, let's not act as if Mitch McConnell is any great shakes. But if Kentuckians want him, who am i to say that they don't deserve him? That still doesn't prove that his voters aren't stupid and uninformed.

Judd is running on the idea of ending coal mining. That might win her lots of votes in California but not in Kentucky.

She ain't THAT stupid. No one is gonna run for a statewide seat in Kentucky and talk about ending coal mining. Give her more credit than that.

Moreover, let's not pigeonhole Kentucky...they pride themselves on far more than coal. Eastern Kentucky isn't the heart and soulof the whole state. The folks in Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, Bowling Green, Paducah, southern Cincinnati suburbs, and Owensboro don't exactly spend their days worrying about the coalfields in the east.

She isn't going to run on reducing coal, but her views on many things will come out and it will hurt her. Of course, like most states peopole on one side are different than on the other, but even those on the west side realize how important coal is to their economy. She is just way to leftist for Ky or anywhere in that region, not to mention she would be considered a carpetbagger, etc. I doubt she will really run, but who knows?

she may very well be that stupid:

In 2010, during a National Press Club luncheon, Judd declared that Kentucky's mountaintop coal mining was "federal government supported, coal industry operated, rape of Appalachia."

"The fact that the Appalachians are Appalachians makes this environmental genocide possible and permissible," Judd said

destroying her voting bloc one inane comment at a time.

of course, until ms judd, i never knew that race car driving was considered an environmentally friendly sport.

Dear God, are you saying being a UK fan is all it takes to win the state senatorial seat? I just moved from Kentucky. Yes, they like Ashley Judd, after all she was born in the state, went to college there, is pretty, and is a movie star, but she is way, way too liberal for one of the most conservative states in the union. All it will take is for her PETA affiliations to become common knowledge or worse, her stance on coal mining, along with a few ads about her "California values." The only Democrats that have a chance in that state are DINO's, like the current governor. He, by the way, defeated a ticket with an actual former UK basketball player on it.

No, they don't spend their days worrying about it but they also know that the only thing keeping that entire region of the state afloat are coal dollars. So if coal were to go, the affluent parts of state would have to start having to sink more of their own money into Eastern Kentucky. Additionally, Lexington and the University of Kentucky benefit immensely from coal money, whether it is from people shopping in the big city or needing professional services.

And, yes she is that dumb.

I'm sorry but no, she isn't that dumb no matter how easily you toss it out there. It's simply not the case.

Mountaintop coal mining IS absolutely awful, and just because it brings money into state coffers doesn't mean that it's a good thing. Anyone getting a picture of the practice can't help but to be appalled.

If this election is gonna be a referendum on coal and nothing else, then you might have a halfass point. But again, Kentucky is far more than just coal. And although its a semi-red state, it isn't Alabama by a long shot. Democrats CAN win there.

The bottom line is that McConnell is unpopular, and will have a tough enough time just getting out of a Republican primary. Let's not act as if he can't be taken down because he surely can be. And if he doesn't get out of the primary, Judd may be able to beat the eventual Republican primary winner.

I never said that Judd will beat McConnell hands down, even if he wins his primary. But if he's vulnerable (and he is), you can't rule it out. Obviously McConnell has a tremendous advantage being the incumbent and Senate minority leader. He's also the Senate's champion money man.

But she is already MORE recognizable than he is by a long shot (even in Kentucky), she'll be able to raise all the cash she needs, and appears to be quite smart and charismatic. This isn't some no-name candidate from Hooterville...should she decide to run.

Regardless, I'm still prognisticating a win for McConnell by a slim margin. A VERY slim margin.

But to advance the idea that she's stupid just because she's a "Hollywood Liberal" is incredibly stupid. What have you right wing types gained in recent years by underestimating people? You've done this twice with Obama and came out on the losing end of that nonsense, and your being incredibly dismissive of Judd when you damn sure shouldn't be. No one with that type of name recognition, charisma, and potential to raise money should be taken so lightly by Republicans as if she's a big ass joke.

But oh well...think what you want. Makes me no difference.
