In the State House, Craighead County is split between District 52, District 53, District 58, and District 59.
District 52 only has a few agricultural precincts in the southern part of the county. That district is represented by Republican John Hutchinson, the only Republican to hold a seat east of White County.
District 53 is represented by Democrat Homer Lenderman. Lenderman was left unchallenged in 2012 and is considered fairly popular.
District 58 is represented by Democrat Harold Copenhaver. This seat was a Democratic pickup in the 2012 elections. Former Republican State Representative Jon Hubbard made a huge gaffe a few weeks before the election when he declared that blacks were better under slavery than they are now. Copenhaver will face a tough 2014 election.
District 59 is represented by Democrat Butch Wilkins. This seat was hotly contested in the 2012 elections. Republican John Cooper, the nominee for the current special election, was the nominee in this State House race. Despite massive spending by outside conservative groups, Wilkins defeated Cooper 54-46. Many people attributed Wilkins’s win to the fact that Cooper was considered one of the most conservative Republicans running for state legislature last year.
Locally, all county-wide elected offices are represented by Democrats. These include the County Judge, County Clerk, County Treasurer, County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, County Collector, County Assessor, and Tax Collector.
Republicans have two members of the Quorum Court.

No one expected to be a runaway, if you are going to put forth a statement like that, you need to back it up and you need to do it with some kind of analysis, not just a poll, which for the most part is just opinion polling.
i need more then 7,500 votes to convince me. this is a seat that is up for re-election at the end of the year, who cares? i follow politics closely and didn't even know about this race, and neither did 98 percent of the rest of the nation.

Who cares? well whether you care or not isn't the point, the point is: If Mark Pryor loses there will be one more Republican senator in DC. Not to mention: Democrat controlled AR since the civil war will become 100%$ Republican. Following politics is one thing, following them and only seeing what you want to see is something totally different. this isn't just about a small nothing election in the Delta area, that part might not be much or mean much to many, but Mark Pryor possible losing does mean a lot. They are two separate issues.
The Virginia governor's was expected to be a blowout win for McAuliffe by double digits as numerous media outlets had been reporting for several months.
Cuccinelli managed to close the gap dramatically thanks to two items which will haunt the Democrats this fall and in 2016, the disastrous launch of the healthcare.gov website, a blistering damnation of the top-to-bottom incompetence of this administration as well as the nonstop stream of news reports detailing the totally unnecessary misery of the millions of folks who lost their healthcare, a number which will undoubtedly skyrocket this year right into the fall election season.
The fact that Cuccinelli lost by less than 3% despite being outspent by some $15,000,000 as he mentioned in his concession speech is unquestionably a referendum on ObamaCare and the Democrats in general, and the tight Senate race in Arkansas is bound to be duplicated in numerous other states in all parts of the country.
The Democrats have no choice but to defend ObamaCare, while simultaneously staying as far as possible from the man who signed that totally predictable disastrous bill into law, given his plunging popularity and job approval numbers.

exactly, they are 2 separate issue and the OP for some reason thinks this election is somehow showing that the race is turning in the Republicans favor even though the rest of the article that he didnt quote completely contradicts that.
