If the political party were not included on the ballots, or voting machines, and the placement of the candidates were random even from one ballot to another in the same jurisdictions, the uneducated, low information voters would cancel each other out, leaving the voters who know who the candidates are to determine the outcome. This would work better in elections for local races or races that do not get a lot of TV coverage.

Who could argue against doing this, other than the side that counts on the uneducated vote?

Are you trying to keep the gun hoarding welfare collectors in the trailer parks from voting? What exactly is your point?

If you don't understand my point then my point would cancel out your vote.

Why are conservatives always trying to take away peoples' right to vote. They always champion the constitution but when it comes to people voting in a manner which does not please them they're first reaction is to start limiting votes. You do realize your wet dream of a nation in which only rich white guys are allowed to vote will never happen don't you? If not then you really need to come to terms with your prejudice.

Why don't we take this one step further and get rid of political parties all together?

OP's proposal would not take away anyone's right to vote. Did you read it? It would just mean that voters would not be able to rely on the crutch of voting party line. They would either have to a)do minimal research to learn candidates' positions; or b)rely on guesswork, which as OP suggests, would tend to result in one low info voter cancelling out another.

The individual parties would just find a way around this. Like inventing the "assistant voter personnel" to help them pick their candidates should they get confused by all the random names.

Could anyone predict that it would be a liberal that thinks I am a conservative trying to take away someone's right to vote? Show me one thing in my post that would indicate that?

I am a registered Republican and I will state without any hesitation that there are low information voters in my party as well. I would just like to see candidates chosen by more intelligent means than the way it is done currently. This is one way to do it without having to resort to testing or by any type of pre-qualification.

Why do you assume party-line voters are uninformed?
