So the "voter" is invalidated ... How are they going to know HOW that person voted?
In Ohio, we have a big book listing all the registered voters in that precinct, it lists whether you are a registered Dem/Rep/Ind which you can change during the Presidential Primary cycle, when you come in you sign the book and they give you the appropriate voting ballot that applies to that election, you can't vote twice. During the Primary they know whether I voted Dem/Rep/Other but not WHO, in the General Election they don't know if I voted the same party as in the primary or not.
I can vote Charles Brown (R) in the Primary but Linus VanPelt (I) in the General Election even if Charles won the Republican Primary.
Personally, I am all for another election. The mud throwing and bashing on each side would be a sight to see. Both factions would likely destroy themselves and their credibility.
However, I am not sure that any claim of illegal counts and pseudo audits made by McDaniel's campaign staff would or could be legally accepted.
Last I heard they were only 1600 away from showing McDaniel won, and they have only reviewed a 1/3 of the ballots.
Do you have any confirmation of what you're claiming outside of the McDaniel campaign?
In the meantime, the Mississippi Republican party certified the vote count yesterday. The numbers show Cochran with a lead of 7,667 votes over McDaniel, almost 1,000 more votes than first announced.
It turns out that Cochran won by an even larger margin than previously reported. No wonder McDaniel is offering money for proof of fraud. But fraud alone won't void the run-off results. The Republican Party has certified Cochran as the winner.
If they did, I'm sure the FEC will follow up on it. Your source only allows a set number of complimentary page views and is now behind a paywall, so I'll have to take your word for it.
What is the end-game here? Do McDaniel supporters actually think they are going to be able to void the results from the run-off election? And if so, do McDaniel supporters actually think they will win if the run-off is held again in September?
I wonder if more Democrats are registering to vote right now in case that happens. Because McDaniel isn't going to be able to stop Democrats from voting in a Mulligan run-off. And he's not winning any fans from the Democratic or Independent political bases.
This outrage that non-Republicans may have participated in the run-off is just another example of the exclusivity that some Republicans want for their party. Exclusivity is suicide for a political party in a system where the majority controls political outcomes. Mainstream Republicans, the "Establishment", recognizes this. Only a small faction of the GOP desires exclusivity. And that faction cannot continue to hold the entire party in a stranglehold.
