On this eve of the election where Republicans believe they will regain the majority of seats in the United States Senate, it’s only fair to point out why such a scenario may never come to pass.
A Republican sweep in 2014 will most likely mean a Democratic sweep in 2016. The Republicans will most likely just be shooting themselves in there collective feet with their obstructionism, in-fighting, and extremism in the next two years turning off the electorate. Republicans tend to think only in the very short term. They may win Tuesday, but I don't see it as a long term gain given their recent history.

I think new RW Congress people should be given the same amount of time as Obama was given after being sworn in to get something done or be vilified for not doing so. About 27 minutes oughta do it.

Deal. But only if we can start calling Obama an obstructionist for vetoing legislation that both houses of congress pass.
Of course your scenario is still apples to oranges since Obama was working with a unified Democratic government when he took office, while republicans would not be.
Let's see how the President of NO does as Bills start hitting his desk.
Almost everything will be filibustered. Not much will reach his desk - certainly none of the ones certain to draw a veto. The dems have little to gain by working with the republicans as they will have the senate back in 2016 in all likelihood along with the White House. I do think, though, that the major issue will not be senate dems, but republicans on the right. McConnell will have the same problems from his right flank as Boehner did. More government shutdowns are in the cards. There may be some compromise on bills that benefit the corporations and the wealthly as both parties work for them, but beyond that it will be gridlock still.

The Republicans in the leadership and at the RNC, are not really doing or saying anything to get votes, the dems are just self destructing, making asses out of themselves, looking like pathetic race-baiting whores, and the results of their liberal Obama agenda, his policies, actions and horrible legislation are all coming back home to roost on the dems.
The democrats and Obama have gotten everything they wanted, they passed the horrible ACA and Dodd-Frank legislation, they are killing coal and have their boot on the neck of electrical power generation with their EPA regs, Obama gutted our immigration laws and got his version of amnesty thru executive orders, they have added millions of poor Americans who are subsisting off federal government assistance, so that poverty is at a fifty year high.
The Repubs did not cause any of this, it's all on the dems, so congrats to them - mission accomplished. Too bad for them, the people reject the dem's liberal agenda.

Your blind partisanship aside, your point about what the GOP will or will not do is well taken. IF they win big tomorrow they'll have two years to get it right or they can expect to lose it all again in two years. IF they win big tomorrow it will not because of their messaging. It will be because so many are voting against the Dems because of their distate for Obama. Again, we find ourselves voting AGAINST something, instead of voting FOR something.
The GOP has got two years to find the right candidate, find the right messaging, find the right tone, get something tangible DONE for the American people. Can they do it? The GOP never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. We'll see.
