that's a better plan than giving amnesty to 20 million and basically inviting 20 million more to come over, they will get the idea that this is how the Americans will handle the situation, throw the white towel sooner or later.
Start fining and giving jail time to those that hire illegals and you will see the problem with illegals start to go away.

Fines?

pft! That is a slap on the wrist and the cost of doing business!

Seizure of all their personal and business assets, acquired using illegal labor.
who in their right business mind is going to risk that, no matter how greedy they may be.

Hit them where it hurts!

Not slap on the wrist fines, more like crippling business fines and definite jail time to for the owner of said company.

Who owns a corporation? You jailing all the stockholders? I'd like that myself, but that would be a far grab.
Fines are a slap on the wrist.
Seizure of all assets, to fund the program and add back to what was stolen from the people.

Your problem is, the CEOs of those corporations own all of your so-called "representatives" on both sides of the aisle. We need to get Big Money out of politics. We had a chance to get rid of Citizens United a couple of months ago, but the 42 GOP senators voted in lockstep to keep the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson happy. The dems voted to do away with George Soros. We need another vote.

Well I keep hearing corporations are people, so I see no problem throwing a bunch of stockholders in prison when their corporation hires illegals. It would curb a lot of bad business practices very quickly after the first corporation is made an example of them.

Unfortunately that will never happen as long as the Republicans are in control of Congress. They would rather waste our time trying to repeal ACA than they would trying to repeal Citizens United.

That has not really worked.

E.g., "In fiscal year 2011, the most recent year reviewed by AP, the median fine was $11,000. The state with the most workplaces fined was Texas with 63..."

Yet Texas still has one of the biggest problems.

Audits of companies for illegal immigrants rise

Then they should tack on a few zeros to that fine and add in mandatory jail time for the heads of a company, that should do it.

E-verify would require the employers to follow the law or face harsh penalties. It needs to be taken one step further though. Many of them are living off welfare they get through their U.S. born kids. Birthright citizenship needs to change for their kids. You should have to prove you are a citizen or legal resident in order for your kids to attend our schools also.
