If John McCain wins in New Hampshire, he will be the GOP frontrunner in a race with just two other serious contenders—Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee. Those three candidates are currently leading the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll. Giuliani would be the stronger challenger but still the underdog. Huckabee would be well positioned to pick up many delegates, especially in the Southern states. But, his path to the nomination would be challenging

I read that in New Hampshire the majority of Republicans that disapprove of Bush voted for McCain, while those happier with Bush voted for Romney.

If you look at the Republican front runner options, McCain really seems like a probable candidate come the election time. One poster made an interesting statement a few days ago, speculating that the ticket could be McCain and Lieberman.

Will Lieberman change party lines? That could be a great ticket.

On the Dems side: Hillary and Al Gore... hmmm

Thats crazy. McCain would be needing the backing of conservatives in a national election, not independents. He would lose with Lieberman. That is the "moderates" and a RINO dream ticket. Unwinnable. Certainly not a Republican ticket, more like a Democrat versus Democrat election.

McCain should enjoy tonight. It will be his only victory in this nomination. McCain will lose Michigan to Romney and Huckabee, and will lose SC. I just dont see a viable option for McCain. If Giuliani wantin this race later on, McCain would have a better shot. Lets face it, McCain won in a state that is much more liberal than other early primary states. He is not liked at all by conservatives and he will get a series of stinging defeats that will end his campaign by the time Florida comes around.
