Why not elect a Navajo, a Chippewa or a Dakota President?

Their ancestors migrated here from somewhere else just like the Europeans did so they aren't anymore native to this country than the decendents of the Europeans who were born here also.
Besides, we should start voting based on one's ethnic or racial group now? I don't think so.
It's unlikely to happen, unless you mean heavily assimilated Native American. As in, they have NA ancestry but are Christians and work for an insurance company or whatever stereotypical white person thing is.
A NA from a reservation who may actually practice the culture is unlikely to happen since people living on reservations tend to not be too well off and you need money to get elected to anything in this country.
With that said, if they had good ideas, I'd vote for them. Same goes for any other random group: gay, atheist, Muslim, Asian, whatever. If they have good ideas and seems intelligent, I'd consider supporting them.

Umm, they've been here since as early as 15,000 BC. So, cave paintings in Europe age.
And if you're gonna be that nitpickey about it, we're all technically African.
The Native Americans were there long before anyone else was. They got their and took it; it's effectively theirs.
In time we will elect a Japanese-American, a woman, a Jew, you name it. The times are rapidly changing and the old ways are fading into the past. The challenges of becoming present will always be there, but the chains of race, heritage, religion, and gender are all wearing thin from age and weakening. One by one, they will break as the right person emerges.
ALL Presidents, until Barack Obama, are Native Americans. It's a requirement of the Constitution.
