He is moderate in some ways, but not all. I see him as a good mixture, let's hope he can prove to those who think he is too young, the life he has led should help him understand our country and how great it is. As much as I wish we could send all illegals back to the country they came from I am a realist and his approach to them is about right on. For those who do not know this: Rubios political hero is Ronald Reagan.
LMAO...everyone on the right says that Reagan is their hero.
Bureaucat, Thanks for the terrific objective analysis in post 13. Scary numbers for the GOP. The GOP gets less of the white vote in urban, ring suburb communities..especially Blue Wall, so realistically, low 60% of white voters is not going to happen.
That leaves the GOP's POTUS hopes in the hands of winning 40+% of the Latino vote. If they don't, realistically, the GOP would have no true power to influence Immigration Reform, and the status quo would continue. With or w/o RWNJ's blessing.
There is no "reform" on the table. It's just amnesty and it is not in the best interests of the citizens of this country. I'd rather the GOP go up in flames and remain with the status quo than to sell our country down the river to a bunch of illegal foreigners and their ethnocentric, racist supporters.
Ted did that in ONE state. If he ever does that in 50, you'd have a point. (PS: His opponent also opposed amnesty. So the 40%even in 1 state was hardly a statement!)
Obama won 73% of the Latino vote in '12. Were they just rewarding political honesty?
Latinos were rewarding Obama and the Democrats for promising amnesty by thumbing their noses at our immigration laws along with the socialism of that party that attracts minorities. Neither one of those things are good for our country.
This could be easily solved if every employer used e-verify, sigh...but they wont because both sides benefit from illegal immigration, and its quite sad.
Long time Republican pollster has written an interesting book entitled "2016 and Beyond- How The Republicans Can Elect A President In The New America"
One of the primary themes that he covers is the necessity for the GOP to attract a larger share of Hispanic voters. Listed below are the percentages of minority vote that the Republicans would need to win the popular vote in 2016 depending on the percentage of the white vote received, along with the percentages the GOP received in 2012, 2008 and 2004.
Bush won in 2004 (by 2.5% overall) with 58% of the white vote and 26% of the minority vote (including 44% of the Latino vote), in a total electorate that was 77% white.
McCain lost in 2008 (by 7.3% overall) with 55% of the white vote and 19% of the minority vote in an electorate that was 74% white.
Romney lost in 2012 (by 3.9% overall) with 59% of the white vote and 17% of the minority vote in an electorate that was 72% white.
Ayres estimates that the electorate in 2016 will be 69% white. In that event if the Republicans matches Romney's 59% of white vote, they would need 30% of the minority vote.
If they get 60% of the white vote, they would need 28% of the minority vote.
61% would need 26%
62% would need 24%
63% would need 21%
64% would need 19%
If Romney's dismal showing of 17% minority support is repeated in 2016, 65% of the white vote would be needed to win.
Every Presidential election cycle in the foreseeable future will have larger minority percentages, requiring either an ever higher percentage of white voters or increasing numbers of minority support in order to win.
I just realized that my post didn't name the Republican pollster whose book I was citing. Whit Ayres.
This could be easily solved if every employer used e-verify, sigh...but they wont because both sides benefit from illegal immigration, and its quite sad.
It's not the Republicans who are opposed to e-verify.
Dunno what rock you've been living under, but the statistics are plain and easily come by. Here's one story, you can google up many others if you don't like politico.
Is this the Election THAT THE DEMOCRATS USED THE IRS TO HARRASS & BLOCK THE TEA PARTY GROUPS! & IS THIS THE ELECTION THAT THE LEADING DEMOCRAT IN THE SENATE, HARRY (Scumbag) REID, PROUDLY ADMITTED THAT HE LIED ABOUT ROMNEYS' TAX RETURNS SHOWING THAT HE PAID NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX!! PROUDLY ADMITTING THAT HE DID IT TO HELP OBAMA WIN REELECTION!! ..... IS THIS THE ELECTION THAT THEY CLAIMED THAT AL QUEDA WAS STOPPED OR DECIMATED!!!
