Which social issues would those be?

Last I heard, DOMAs were the expressed will of the people in most states and most Americans are pro-lifers who support numerous common sense restrictions on abortion.

Common State Abortion Restrictions Spark Mixed Reviews

Republicans control two-thirds of the state houses and governorships, the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Republican sweep extends to state level - The Washington Post

Even if America is pro-same-sex marriage, in almost all states, they simply don`t vote that way.

If they favor abortion on demand or just believe it is a personal issue, they don`t vote that way.

If they want marijuana legalized, they generally don`t vote that way.

The truth is it is specifically because Republicans have listened to the people on social issues that the party has grown.

At this moment, with a very vulnerable front-runner seeking the presidency, Democrats are poised to get swept in 2016.

Americans, and specifically those who vote, are sick and tired of being told by federal courts that they violate the Constitution by enacting laws to protect that which they deem worthy of preserving.

You poke the bear at your own risk.

Well how about abortion and gay marriage. Just leave it alone. Abortion is a done deal so why are candidates still talking about it. And if you don't get on board with equal rights for gays then another dem will be elected

"The new changes put forward by the establishment would determine which candidates could participate in the presidential debates (namely the Democrats and Republicans), which media organizations could attend (only those that could be trusted) and who would serve as debate panelists (thereby controlling the questions)."

A while ago Jimmy Fallon said " 50% of the people approve of Obama. The other 50% intend to run for President in 2016.

I am not convinced the GOP wants to win in 2016.

Nonsense!

Your rationale is confounded by reality.

BTW, what is an equal right for gays?

Well, there is another housing bubble developing, the economy is still not all that and the national debt is at 18 trillion, before you consider the unfunded mandates. Our middle east policy is in the crapper, and the Soviets, Chinese and N. Koreans are rubbing our nose in it with their actions... So far, I don't have a dog in this fight because I haven't seen a democrat or a republican that I can support. That said, I am not sure if I were a republican I would want to run right now either. Too many dominoes are ready to fall and nobody wants to be the one holding the bag when and if it does, so you make an excellent point.

And your post is exactly why a republican won't win.

Uh, yes. If the economy is in bad shape, and it looks to be tanking now, the GOP is virtually guaranteed a victory.

It is at this time that we need remind OP that the GOP controls the Senate, has a virtual unassailable lock on the house, controls 3/5 of governorships, and has a lock on the state legislature in 23 states...almost half and twice as many as the Dems.

The GOP isn't going anywhere.

Wrong again!

You do make a habit of that.

The reason a Republican won`t win is because the RINOs send up someone who is virtually indistinguishable form the Democrat.

Romney was as good a reason to stay home as any RINO before him.

The reason a Republican will win is because he or she is an actual alternative to the Democrat.

Of course, you already knew that.
