The problem for the GOP is a shift in certain states hurts them more than EV gains from a shifting population, especially Viginia and Colorado which were once solidly Republican. They basically have to sweep the swing states, the Dems just need to pick off a couple.

Last 60 years? Clearly, the electoral tectonics have changed a small bit since 1955, no?

Stick with the last 6 elections, kiddo - the GOP has had less popular vote in 5 of them, and the trend is getting worse. As far as "sunbelt" states - you lost California long ago, pretty much have lost Florida and Colorado, lost Virginia, New Mexico, and NC and Nevada are competitive again. All you have is the deep South - and cleetus ain't gonna deliver you no election.

In a normal cycle, you are stuck with the deep South, the plains states, and Idaho. Enjoy losing.

If it is just opinion, then you can just say you don't think Trump will win. No need to make things up.
It is your opinion that every one tuned in because they support Trump. Where is your survey?

I tuned in to see some of it and I can't stand Trump. Haven't like him since the 1980'.

On the day of the debate, I talked to many people who were looking forward to watching it that night. However, none of them support Trump. People tuned in to see what he was going to do.

This is true. However if you were running for President, it's much better to have 24 Million people so interested in you they spend time to watch you on TV, than to be simply ignored.

Everyone I know who watched the debate wanted to see what buffoons Trump and the gang would make of themselves and maybe play a drinking game to all the stupid things they would say.

Responses to your points.
  • 5 elections? This is called cherry picking data to support your predetermined result. How about last 4. It's equal as I said.
  • California is more than balanced out by Florida & Texas. Furthermore GA & NC just surpassed Michigan in population and by 2020, they will be larger than Ohio. By 2030 even larger than Penn & Ill.
  • You said NC is competitive again and Trend is getting worse for GOP. Yet DNC holds convention in NC and it votes Red again. 2008 Governor, Senator, President all blue. By 2014 it changed back to Red. So your argument fails.
Finally you have a tendency to pass insult as some sort of argument. Your cleetus remark. Someone who has argument based in logic and fact does not need this tactic. This is your biggest issue.

But the population growth in those states you mentioned (Florida, Georgia, North Carolina) are among groups that historically don't vote Republican, so yes they are gaining electoral votes, but the population shifts are pushing them towards blue in Florida, North Carolina (also Colorado, Nevada and Virginia) and towards purple in Georgia. It isn't the Southern Cleetus vote that's growing.
