I recently watched Mr. Trump repeat the phrase "we gotta build up our military" about six times in the course of a thirty second sound bite. If he is serious about what he is saying, I would like to ask him his opinion of the F-35 fighter currently under development, whether he would like to add to the $1.5 trillion spent thus far on an aircraft which is not yet combat-ready, and whether programs like the F-35 constitute "building up our military" or "building up Lockheed-Martin's balance sheet."

I have a feeling he knows less about the F-35 than I do. He could improve his understanding by reading this article:

F-35 Still Isn't Ready for Prime Time | RealClearDefense

You have a day and a half before the "debate", Mr. Trump. Educate yourself. Stop embarrassing your party and your country.

He's just saying that because he's appealing to the Republican base who believes in U.S.military elitism. I'm as patriotic as the next person about my nation, but our military spending (IMO) has really gotten out of hand.

The question could be answered the same way G.W. Bush answered when ask about the name of a foreign leader.
He will know the answer when he needs to know it. It's a tactic of ambush that could be used on any candidate.
Politicians in all their wisdom created the problem.

Donald Trump has advocated on several different times that he would charge the countries we are currently protecting for free for those services....

Kuwait want our protection? 25% of oil revenue
South Korea? Want our troops? Ok no military credits and pay us .....

etc...

This is how it should be. We cannot afford to take care of our own people because we are busy spending $$ protecting the world.

Trump's F-35 solution would be to scrap it and "build a better plane".

Trump would have had the Mexicans pay for the F-35.

And then he'd tax China when it's done.

I love Trump. He says whatever he has to say whenever he needs to say it. It's all baloney and he knows it.
